We build the infrastructure for a thriving space economy, enabling humanity beyond Earth. Our vision is bold but we execute. We design and manufacture the large-scale structures that power human and robotic activity in Earth orbit and beyond. If you're ready to imagine and realize a new era in space, embrace relentless learning and innovation, execute and build the final frontier, Gravitics is the place for you. Let's build space, together. \nAbout the Role \nWe are seeking mechanical interns to join our 2027 Winter class (Jan-March 2027). Our interns receive high ownership and guidance with challenging and meaningful projects that are critical components to the success of our mission. You will partner with and learn from top professionals in the aerospace industry. \nThis will be a 10-12 week internship in our facility in the greater Seattle area. You’ll be in the same location where we are pulling in our structures, mechanisms, propulsion, life support systems, avionics, power systems, thermal systems, software, and associated testing. If you are driven, passionate, collaborative, hands on, and want to grow your technical skills - join us and help enable our expansion into the solar system. \nInternship Disciplines \nMechanical Test Engineering \nMotor Control Engineering \nAbout You \nYou’re a successful candidate if you are a giver, not a taker and have a desire to support your team in all the areas to mission success. The strongest candidates have appreciation for the physics underlying engineering while also seeing their developments built with their hands and bias to action, testing, and execution. \nBasic Qualifications \nMust be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. \nCurrently enrolled in an undergraduate program as a mechanical or electrical engineer (junior standing or higher) or a graduate program and have at least one semester or quarter of school remaining after the internship. \nAvailable to work full time while not concurrently enrolled in coursework. \nStrong written, verbal, communication, and interpersonal skills. \nBasic electrical engineering - voltage, current, resistance, power, Ohm's law, Kirchhoff's laws \nDesired Motor Control Engineering Skills \nBasic electrical engineering - voltage, current, resistance, power, Ohm's law, Kirchhoff's laws \nElectronics lab work - wiring, soldering, instrumentation, documenting experiments \nFamiliar with stepper motors, PWM, phase current \nFeedback vs. open loop, PID basics, stability, bandwidth \nEmbedded programming with C/C++, microcontrollers, GPIO, timers, interrupts \n Desired Mechanical Test Engineering Skills \nWriting test procedures, defining objectives, setting up tests, executing tests \nLoad cells, thermocouples, pressure sensors, displacement sensors, accelerometers, resolvers \nTensile, compression, vibration, thermal, fatigue, functional tests \nDesigning and building test equipment such as dynos, structures, 80/20 aluminum extrusion \nDesigning welded or machined structures \nTolerance stack-up studies and drafting engineering drawings \n\nSalary Range and Description \nWe provide a competitive hourly wage and housing stipend for our interns, $28/hr - $35.00/hr\nITAR Requirements\nTo conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
