We're creating the infrastructure for a thriving space economy, enabling humanity to flourish beyond Earth. Our vision is bold, but we're not just dreamers; we're doers. We design and manufacture large-scale orbital structures that enable commercial operations while meeting the requirements of defense and government missions. \nOur systems are built to scale and built to last-bridging commercial innovation with mission-critical performance. If you're ready to lay the foundations for a new era in space, embrace a culture of relentless learning and innovation, and contribute to a future where humanity's reach extends farther, Gravitics is the place for you. Let's build the future together. \nAbout the Role \nWe are seeking a highly capable Systems Engineer to support technical execution of the commercial spacecraft program from architecture development through qualification, integration, test, launch, and mission operations. This role sits at the center of the program and works directly with Chief Engineers, subsystem leads, Program Management, Manufacturing, Integration & Test, Mission Assurance, and suppliers to ensure the spacecraft functions as an integrated system - not just a collection of subsystems. The ideal candidate is technically broad, execution-focused, comfortable in ambiguity, and able to balance engineering rigor with program realities including schedule, manufacturability, integration flow, and risk. This position will support development of human-rated spacecraft systems and therefore requires strong systems thinking, configuration discipline, verification planning, and cross-functional leadership. \nResponsibilities \nSupport development and management of spacecraft system architecture, requirements, interfaces, and verification approaches for the program \nTranslate mission and program objectives into clear subsystem and vehicle-level technical requirements \nDevelop and maintain system specifications, interface control documents (ICDs), CONOPS, verification matrices, and technical baselines \nDrive technical integration across: Structures and mechanisms \nPressure systems \nPropulsion systems \nAvionics and software \nThermal systems \nECLSS / crew environment considerations \nDocking and payload interfaces \nGround systems and GSE \n\nSupport program technical reviews including: SRR \nPDR \nCDR \nTRR \nFRR \n\nCoordinate system-level trades balancing: Performance \nMass \nSafety \nReliability \nManufacturability \nTestability \nSchedule and cost impacts \n\nWork closely with Manufacturing and Integration & Test teams to ensure designs are producible, inspectable, and verifiable \nSupport development of system verification and validation plans including qualification, acceptance, protoflight, and integrated vehicle testing \nParticipate in anomaly resolution, failure investigations, and risk reduction activities \nSupport hazard analysis, FMEA/FDIR activities, and human-rating related assessments \nEnsure configuration control and technical baseline integrity throughout the program lifecycle \nInterface with customers, suppliers, and partner organizations as required \nHelp drive closure of technical issues rather than simply tracking them\nRequired Qualifications \nBachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related technical discipline \n5+ years of experience in aerospace systems engineering or integrated vehicle development \nExperience working on spacecraft, launch vehicle, aviation, defense, or other complex multidisciplinary systems \nStrong understanding of systems engineering processes including: \nRequirements development \nInterface management \nVerification and validation \nConfiguration management \nTechnical risk management \nExperience supporting technical reviews and hardware development programs \nAbility to operate across multiple engineering disciplines and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders \nComfortable working in a fast-paced development environment with evolving priorities \nPreferred Qualifications \nExperience with human-rated spacecraft or crewed systems \nExperience supporting pressure vessels, propulsion systems, docking systems, or orbital vehicle integration \nFamiliarity with NASA standards and spaceflight development processes \nExperience with MBSE tools, requirements management tools, or digital engineering environments \nHands-on integration, test, manufacturing, or operations experience \nExperience supporting qualification and environmental test campaigns \nFamiliarity with spaceflight safety and mission assurance processes \nWhat Success Looks Like \nTechnical issues are identified early and driven to closure \nVehicle interfaces are clearly defined and controlled \nSubsystems integrate cleanly into a functioning spacecraft \nVerification activities are planned before hardware arrives at test \nEngineering decisions consider program execution realities, not just ideal technical solutions \nThe program moves forward with increasing technical maturity and reduced integration risk \nCompensation and Benefits\nYour level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the considerations of job-related knowledge and skills, education, and direct experience. Salary is just one component of the total employee package, which also includes company equity at an exciting time of company growth, as well as comprehensive medical, 401(k) retirement plan, a generous PTO policy, employee discounts, and more. \nAbout Compliance\nTo conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.\nGravitics is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Employment decisions are based on merit, qualifications, and business needs, without regard to race, color, religion, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin or ethnicity, age, disability, veteran status, marital status, or any other legally protected status.\nSalary Range\n$140,000—$170,000 USD","description_format":"text","description_chars":6499,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":5,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":{"level":"bachelor","optional":false},"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":["Equity","Retirement plans"],"hiring_locations":[{"name":"United States","iso":"US","kind":"country"}],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Space & Aerospace","Launch Services"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-14T01:17:17Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":86,"band":"hot","label":"Hiring now","p_open":1,"p_active":0.86,"p_room":1,"age_days":16,"expected_fill_days":131,"reasons":["conf:0","win:early"],"computed_at":"2026-10-30T05:48:23Z"},"pay":{"stated_usd_annual":170000,"is_top_pay":true},"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/gravitics-senior-systems-engineer-2","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/gravitics-senior-systems-engineer-2.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-30T18:59:05Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":8266,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-10-31T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":10245},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=10245"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Fgravitics-senior-systems-engineer-2"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Fgravitics-senior-systems-engineer-2"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Fgravitics-senior-systems-engineer-2"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/gravitics-senior-systems-engineer-2\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Fgravitics-senior-systems-engineer-2"}],"agent":{"mcp":"https://alion.io/mcp/jobs","mcp_open":"https://alion.io/mcp/open","next":[{"tool":"get_job","arguments":{"id":2488418}},{"tool":"search_jobs","arguments":{"company":"gravitics.com","detail":"compact"}},{"tool":"match_people","arguments":{"job_id":2488418},"note":"people open to offers who fit this vacancy"}],"note":"The same data through MCP tools: https://alion.io/mcp/open needs no sign-in (compact searches, postings, people); https://alion.io/mcp with an Alion account has everything.
