Our EMPLOYEES are our greatest asset in meeting our mission to be an Oklahoma Agency of Excellence.\nTechnician Senior - Operations (Control Room\nOperator)\nPosition Overview\nResponsible for safe and efficient start up, operation, shutdown of a\npower generation facility, which includes one (1) combined cycle plant\nand one (1) coal-fired plant, along with all associated support\nequipment, based on the assigned tasks.\nPrimarily, the responsibilities involve working from the Control\nRoom, continuously monitoring the status of all plant systems. Ensuring\nappropriate corrective actions are taken to clear alarms and address\nupset conditions, executing plant shutdown and start-up procedures when\nnecessary, and ensuring the plant operates safely and efficiently to\nmeet its generating requirements.\nDuring field assignments, maintain, troubleshoot and repair\nmechanical and de-energized electrical equipment. This equipment\nincludes, but is not limited to, the Gas/Steam Turbines and auxiliary\ncomponents, gas compressors, motors, pumps, and other auxiliary\nequipment.\nEssential job functions include, but are not limited\nto:\nPromotes continual improvement, working to identify opportunities\nto improve safety and equipment reliability.\n\nProvides general direction for the operation of a multi-unit\ncombined cycle and coal fired facility having a combined energy output\nof approximately 1 GW.\n\nOperate combustion turbine generators and balance of plant\nequipment safely and effectively. Coordinate operations and maintenance\nrequirements with on-site Operator/Technicians. Work under the direction\nof the Operations Supervisor and management.\n\nInitiate, operate, and shut down Combustion and Steam Turbine(s)\nalong with auxiliary equipment, as necessary. Additionally, the role\ninvolves reading meters, gauges, or monitoring automatic devices to\nrecord essential data, such as equipment operating temperatures,\nvibration, operating hours, pressure, and fluid levels, to verify\noperating conditions.\n\nMonitor, document, and assess system conditions while maintaining\nand reviewing operational and maintenance reporting logs. Keep\nmanagement well-informed of any abnormal situations. Additionally,\nduring maintenance and overhaul periods, there might be a need to report\nthe progress of work, especially when not on an assigned shift and while\nactively engaged in maintenance activities.\n\nUtilize P&ID's and facility operating procedures along with\nequipment technical manuals to conduct maintenance and repair work on\nfacility equipment, ensuring that all equipment operates within the\nspecified operating range. Show complete commitment to the facility\nmaintenance philosophy by actively supporting and demonstrating\nproficiency in using the Computerized Maintenance Management System\n(CMMS).\n\nAdhere to all regulatory procedures and facility safety\nprotocols, comprehending and following them diligently. Undertake\nspecific tasks and responsibilities assigned in these areas.\n\nExecute tasks related to the handling of hazardous materials and\nwastes, as well as spill prevention and control, as directed by facility\nmanagement and in compliance with relevant regulations. Comprehensive\ntraining, including initial orientation and annual classroom training,\nas well as on-the-job training, will be provided to ensure a thorough\nunderstanding of essential information for regulatory compliance and\ndocumentation.\n\nWork flexible hours, including shift hours, overtime, or\nirregular schedules, as necessary to ensure the reliable operation of\nthe facility.\n\nEnsure the power plant consistently meets its generating\nrequirements while operating safely, efficiently, and in compliance with\nall environmental regulations at the federal, state, and local\nlevels.\n\nOperate the plant following well-established procedures under\ngeneral supervision. The role involves having the authority to control\nplant operations with a primary focus on safety to prevent any\nrecordable accidents and ensure compliance with all environmental\npermits. Decisions are made within prescribed operating\nguidelines.\n\nPlay an active role in maintaining plant operating manuals,\ntechnical references, prints, diagrams, and preventive/predictive\nmaintenance records in an administrative capacity.\n\nProvide support to field technicians during maintenance plans\nexecution, including assistance with Lockout/Tagout procedures,\nequipment identification, troubleshooting, and work request preparation,\namong other areas as required.\n\nShow full commitment to and active participation in GRDA Safety\nand Regulatory Compliance Programs.\n\nCreate, organize, and maintain accurate records.\n\nPerform other assigned duties as required.\n\nSkills, Knowledge, Qualities:\nStrong technical skills\n\nAll internal candidates must have completed the Plant Operator IV\nQualification as a fundamental prerequisite. External applicants will be\nrequired to fulfill the same qualification within six (6) months upon\nrecruitment.\n\nGas Turbine and/or Coal experience is desirable.\n\nTheoretical and practical knowledge of gas/steam turbine\noperations\n\nExperience with piping and instrument schematics and process\ncontrols\n\nExtensive working knowledge of power plant industry\n\nMust have excellent oral and written communication\nskills.\n\nEducation, Training, Experience:\nHS diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in a\ntechnical field is desirable.\n\nMinimum of six (6) years of operational experience in a power\nplant or similar large industrial setting, with a preference for at\nleast one (1) year of Control Room experience. A technical degree or\ncertification in a related field may be considered as qualifying\nexperience for up to two (2) years.\n\nCertificates, Registrations, Licenses:\nValid driver’s license\n\nPhysical Requirements:\nProtective equipment must be worn in the performance of some\nduties (e.g., hard hats, safety glasses, ear protection, arc flash rated\nclothing etc.).\n\nWork outside in all types of weather conditions.\n\nMay be required to work at heights up to and exceeding thirty\n(30) feet, underground and in confined spaces.\n\nMust possess mental, visual, and auditory acuity for attention to\nvisual and auditory detail.
