We have also recently become a bank!\nPosition Summary:\nThe Platform Engineering Intern gains hands-on experience with the platforms and DevOps toolchain (ServiceNow, Jira, Azure DevOps, GitHub) that support GreatAmerica's technology operations, working alongside experienced engineers on maintenance, monitoring, automation, and troubleshooting.\nThe ideal candidate has an interest in cloud technologies, infrastructure, and automation, and in the reliable operation of enterprise technology platforms. GreatAmerica's internship program is designed to build foundational technical and business knowledge while building bench strength for our platform engineering roles. Our internships often turn into full-time employment opportunities for students!\nEssential Functions:\nCollaborate with platform engineers to support the configuration, maintenance, and improvement of GreatAmerica's core enterprise platforms.\n\nAssist with automation and CI/CD pipeline exposure (Azure DevOps, GitHub) and help troubleshoot and resolve platform issues.\n\nWrite SQL queries and assist in optimizing database interactions in support of platform data and reporting needs.\n\nDocument technical processes, configuration standards, and contribute to the team's knowledge base.\n\nRelevant Coursework/Experience:\nCloud computing, networking, and systems administration fundamentals\n\nDatabase concepts and SQL\n\nRESTful APIs, JSON, and HTTP protocols\n\nDevOps, automation, and cybersecurity fundamentals\n\nPosition Qualifications\nSkills and Abilities\nSQL and SQL Server Management Studio, exposure to a major cloud platform such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or GCP, familiarity with a scripting or programming language (PowerShell, Python, Bash or similar), strong communication, collaboration, and troubleshooting skills; comfortable asking questions and learning new tools, basic familiarity with Git and source control workflows, exposure to CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions, and Microsoft Windows/Office ecosystem.\nEducation: Pursuing Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or other relevant technical degree\nExperience: Familiarity with software languages/platforms listed above\nCompetencies:\nFor all GreatAmerica team members: Honesty/Integrity, Customer Oriented, Accountability, Tenacious, Communication Skills (Oral & Written), Adaptability\nFor this position: Creative, Detail-Oriented, Goal-Oriented, Systems Analysis, and Technical Aptitude\nAt GreatAmerica, we’re looking to grow our business through our people.
