Join the Grede team and accelerate your development with a best-in-class organization!The manufacturing engineer position develops and implements optimal, cost-effective machining processes in accordance with product specifications and quality standards; recommends and implements improvements to production processes, methods and controls. Must take necessary action to minimize delay time and maximize production.What You'll Do:\nWork as part of a team to determine the optimum machining processes on new parts considering part drawing requirements, customer engineering and quality requirements, preliminary quoted process, launch timing requirements, capital equipment and tooling needs, etc. \nDevelop machining process plan to meet all internal and customer engineering and quality requirements. \nConstruct manufacturing process documentation needed for start-up and long-term production – including written manufacturing process instructions, operational sketches, changeover instructions, and tooling lists. \nIdentify capital equipment needs including available in-house and new purchase options. \nWhen new capital equipment is required, research various manufacturers equipment and automation to determine capabilities and obtain quotations. \nPurchase equipment and automation as required. \nWork with equipment and automation suppliers to install equipment and automation.\nModify/update automation - including program codes, touch up points, etc.\nPrepare and maintain detailed layouts of production cells within electronic building layouts. \nCollaborate with internal and external tool designers to provide initial work-holding concepts. Participate in regular tool design reviews to ensure designs meet intended requirements.\nResearch and purchase all required durable and perishable cutting tools.\nConstruct new CNC programs and set-up sketches for machining processes and make modifications to existing programs as necessary. \nMaintain master control of all CMC programs stored on main electronic drive.\nOversee machine set-up during initial launch and process prove out phase.\nMonitor initial production results to confirm that all performance targets are met.\nConduct time studies and perishable tool cost analysis.\nProcess engineering changes as needed.\nCarries out process improvement and problem resolution. \nImproves manufacturing processes and methods with goal of cost-reductions, quality improvements and increased labor efficiencies.\nPerforms research, design and development of manufacturing processes including production flow, assembly methods and production equipment.\nPerforms product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency.\nAssists multiple departments in improving a system of production control, standard operating procedures, safety, quality control and minor training.\nParticipate in Advanced Product Quality Planning sessions with project team to ensure process flows, process Failure Mode Effects Analysis, and control plans are properly developed and implemented. \nRepresents engineering on cross-functional teams.\nPerforms miscellaneous work assignments as directed.\n\nWhy Join Us:\n$1,000 Hiring Bonus\n8-hour shift w/ paid break\nCompetitive wages paid weekly\nShift premiums for second and third shifts\nMedical with HSA, dental, vision, life insurance, and short-term disability\nMatching 401(k)\nPaid vacations and holidays\n\nWhat We Need from You:\nEducation and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; 5-10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.\nLanguage Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.\nMathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.\nReasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
