As a member of the Grede team, you are expected to accept certain responsibilities, adhere to acceptable business principles in matters of personal conduct, and exhibit a high degree of personal integrity always.\nThe Process Quality Engineer (PQE) is responsible for preventing defects, controlling process risk, and improving manufacturing quality within a high-volume ductile iron green sand-casting environment. This role drives process discipline through data ownership, standardization, and continuous improvement while ensuring alignment with IATF 16949 and customer-specific requirements.\nKey Responsibilities\nProcess Quality Ownership\nOwn process quality data on the shop floor, ensuring accuracy, visibility, and actionability.\nMonitor and improve:\nProcess capability (“Monetizer” SPC outputs)\nAnalyze trends and drive data-based decisions to reduce variation and improve process and product quality.\nHold weekly meetings to communicate trends with Melt, Maintenance and Quality.\nAssist maintenance in monitoring Melt furnaces and equipment\nAssist Melt department in delay and scrap identification and elimination.\nCore Quality Systems & Documentation\nEnsure alignment between PFMEA, process control plans, work instructions, process parameters and inspection standards.\nConduct control plan audits and layered audits to verify process adherence.\n\nContainment & Internal Issue Management\nLead containment activities for internal quality issues.\nDevelop and issue containment and rework instructions to production and quality teams.\nSupport escalation processes related to internal defects affecting customer deliveries.\nWhy You’ll Love Working for Us:\nOpportunity to earn up to $1000 sign on bonus\nBase pay + Incentive pay*, Shift, Weekend, and Job Premiums* (for eligible positions*)\nComprehensive Benefit Package including Medical, Dental, Vision coverage\nInsurance: Life, Supplemental Life, Short and Long-Term Disability\nWellness Programs and access to Worksite Wellness Center, including family members\n401(K) Match\nPaid Vacation and Holidays\nEmployee Assistance Program (EAP)\nPPE allowances\nWhat We Need from You:\nApproach work assignments in a positive manner and function as a team member.\nBachelor’s degree in:\nMechanical, Manufacturing, Metallurgical, or Industrial Engineering\nOr equivalent technical experience in foundry manufacturing\nMinimum 3–5 years of manufacturing quality / production experience or related educational background in:\nAutomotive industry (OEM or Tier 1 preferred)\nFoundry environment (green sand casting strongly preferred)\nDemonstrated experience with:\nInternal defect reduction and process control\nPFMEA, Control Plans, and process audits\nRoot cause analysis and corrective action implementation\nSupervise diversified work, operations, or procedures. Make decisions within applied technology.\nLight physical exertion.
