This position works closely with Dispatch, Quality Control, Fleet, Safety, Human Resources, and management to support efficient daily operations, address driver and equipment concerns, and maintain GFT’s standards for safety, quality, productivity, and professionalism.\nKey Responsibilities\nSafety & Compliance\nPromote and reinforce a strong safety culture among drivers.\nEnsure drivers follow company safety policies, procedures, and expectations.\nMonitor drivers for readiness and fitness to safely perform their duties.\nEnsure required PPE is properly worn and maintained.\nReview pre-trip and post-trip inspections and follow up on identified concerns.\nIdentify unsafe driving practices, jobsite hazards, and equipment concerns.\nReinforce safe loading, washout, truck operation, and jobsite procedures.\nCoordinate with Fleet, Maintenance, and Safety regarding equipment deficiencies and out-of-service vehicles.\nReinforce safe loading, washout, truck operation, and jobsite procedures.\nDriver Leadership & Development\nProvide daily supervision, direction, and support to ready-mix drivers.\nMonitor driver attendance, performance, productivity, safety, and equipment care.\nConduct driver coaching, training, ride-alongs, and ongoing development.\nSupport onboarding and training of new drivers.\nAddress performance, conduct, and disciplinary matters in accordance with company policies.\nReinforce expectations related to safety, quality, professionalism, and customer service.\nOperations & Scheduling\nCoordinate with Dispatch, Quality Control, Fleet, Safety, and management to support daily operations.\nAssist with driver scheduling, staffing, PTO requests, and timecard approvals.\nHelp ensure staffing and equipment are aligned with operational needs.\nRespond to changing daily priorities and operational concerns as they arise.\nEquipment & Fleet Oversight\nMonitor truck condition, cleanliness, and overall equipment care.\nFollow up on mechanical concerns and driver-reported deficiencies.\nCoordinate equipment repairs and downtime with Fleet and Maintenance.\nAddress recurring equipment damage, misuse, or cleanliness concerns.\nCustomer & Jobsite Support\nVisit jobsites as needed to support safe and efficient deliveries.\nEvaluate jobsite access, truck flow, washout areas, and potential hazards.\nAssist with customer concerns related to drivers, deliveries, or jobsite conditions.\nPromote professional and courteous interactions with customers and onsite crews.\nAdditional Responsibilities\nAssist with operational, administrative, and driver-related responsibilities based on business needs.\nPerform other related duties as assigned by management.\nRequirements\nMinimum of 5 years of ready-mix driving experience required; 10+ years preferred.\nPrevious lead driver, trainer, or supervisory experience preferred.\nStrong knowledge of ready-mix operations, safety practices, and truck procedures.\nWorking knowledge of DOT/FMCSA requirements.\nStrong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.\nAbility to coach drivers, address performance concerns, and manage changing priorities.\nValid CDL and acceptable driving record if required to operate company vehicles.\nWhy Join GFT?\nGFT Ready Mix offers a competitive benefits package designed to support our employees and their families, including:\n 100% employer-paid employee medical coverage\nWeekly pay\nEmployer-paid basic life insurance and short-term disability\nVoluntary dental, vision, life, and long-term disability coverage\n401(k) with company match and profit-sharing opportunities\nPaid training and opportunities for continued growth\nBenefits eligibility within 45 days\nGFT Ready Mix is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
