The successful candidate will independently lead assigned work, collaborate across the organization, develop practical solutions, and deliver high-quality results within month-end, forecast, budget, and project deadlines. We’re always looking for people who can bring new talents and experience to our team. \n\nWho You Are: \n\nSkills, Education, and Qualifications:\nPost-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.\nProfessional accounting designation, active progress toward a designation, or equivalent depth of accounting experience is preferred.\nThree to five years of accounting and financial analysis experience, preferably in a manufacturing, processing, or operational environment.\nStrong knowledge of general accounting, month-end close, account reconciliations, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.\nProven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines without sacrificing quality or control.\nAdvanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial modelling, data analysis, and efficient manipulation of large data sets.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships across functions.\nPersonal Qualities:\nOwnership mindset with a bias for action, follow-through, and accountability.\nSelf-directed and resourceful, with the ability to assess a task, determine an appropriate approach, and see it to completion.\nAnalytical curiosity and persistence in getting to the root cause of issues rather than only reporting the outcome.\nHigh attention to detail, sound professional judgment, and commitment to accurate, well-supported work.\nAbility to remain organized and responsive, manage changing priorities, and maintain accurate work during peak workload periods.\nCollaborative and approachable, with the ability to challenge constructively.\nCommitment to continuous improvement, adaptability, and the Company values of Honesty, Integrity, Respect, and Commitment.\nCommitment to safety, environmental practices, and quality standards.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nMonth-End Accounting and Financial Control\nManage assigned month-end close activities, including preparation of journal entries, accruals, inventory-related entries, stock in transit (SIT), and other plant accounting entries.\nPrepare and maintain accurate general ledger account reconciliations, investigate variances, resolve reconciling items, and maintain clear supporting documentation and audit trails.\nAnalyze balance sheet accounts, including inventory, capital projects, fixed assets, accruals, and other assigned accounts.\nMonitor accounting transactions and operational data for completeness, accuracy, and appropriate period recognition, escalating material issues promptly.\nSupport year-end activities, external and internal audits, and requests for financial information.\nSupport capital management and project teams with financial tracking and budgeting.\nFinancial Analysis and Business Partnership\nInvestigate actual-to-budget and actual-to-forecast variances across departments, production costs, inventory, freight, chemicals, utilities, and other key plant cost areas.\nPartner with department managers to understand spending, commitments, risks, and opportunities and to improve financial accountability.\nPerform ad hoc financial analysis and independently take assignments from initial scoping through investigation, recommendation, and completion.\nDevelop a strong understanding of plant operations and connect operational activity to financial performance.\nPrepare, and continuously improve, monthly financial reporting for leadership.\nBudgeting and Forecasting\nProvide substantial support for the annual budget and quarterly forecasting processes, including data collection, assumptions, departmental input, consolidation, and variance analysis.\nWork with the Plant Controller and operational leaders to develop supportable budget assumptions and convert operating plans into accurate financial projections.\nOther Responsibilities\nComply with all Company health and safety, environmental, and quality policies and regulatory requirements.\nProvide backup and support for critical finance activities as required, including accounts payable and plant accounting processes.\nProvide guidance on sound accounting and system practices and support cross-functional problem solving.\nPerform other accounting, analytical, and project responsibilities as required.\n\nTotal Compensation & Care: \nBase salary dependent on experience and demonstrated performance – $75,000 -
