The electrical team is responsible for product research, design, modification, installation, integration, certification, and testing of aircraft interior electrical systems for Commercial, VIP, and Special Mission aircraft applications.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\nEnsures adherence to schedule, budget and quality in accordance with program requirements.\nEffectively leads and manages a team of Engineers to design/certify aircraft modifications for such systems as air-conditioning and heating, cabin management, in-flight entertainment and communication, electrical power distribution and conversion, personal power (convenience and utility outlets, wireless charging), interior lighting, potable and waste-water systems, smoke and fire detection, security and camera.\nEnsures technical requirements for engineering designs are met.\nLeads the team to produce designs that account for design to cost, design for installation and design for manufacturing.\nResponsible for recruiting, hiring, training and evaluating staff. Makes recommendations, initiates promotions, transfers and disciplinary action.\nConducts 1:1 discussions, annual performance reviews and mid-year reviews and salary adjustments.\nSets the quality standard for the engineering department and ensures processes are established and standards are met for their specific discipline.\nCoaches, trains and mentors a team of Design Engineers to keep all team members working efficiently.\nDevelops analytical tools, databases and work flow procedures, as needed, for efficient design.\nManages multiple priorities and competing tasks while making decisions as to priority of tasks and assignment of team members.\nWorks closely and constructively with other departments within Greenpoint to gain consensus on the best strategy for each engineering design issue.\nCommunicates clearly with the engineering team, other departments and vendors, as required, to facilitate smooth completion of Greenpoint designs.\nPrepares staffing plans, anticipates critical path issues and sets a schedule to meet program schedules and budgets.\nAssists with bids and estimations of costs for new programs.\nMaintains regular attendance including being at work, being on time to work and working full shifts.\nOther duties as assigned.\nCompetencies\nTo perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:\n\nGreenpoint Core Competencies\nAdaptability - Adapts to changes in the work environment, manages competing demands, and accepts constructive criticism/feedback and changes approach or method to best fit the situation.\nCommunications - Expresses ideas and thoughts effectively in verbal and written form, exhibits good listening and comprehension, and keeps others informed and uses appropriate communication methods.\nDependability - Responds to requests for service and assistance, follows instruction and responds to management direction, takes responsibility for own actions and doing the best job possible, keeps commitments, and maintains reliable attendance.\nInitiative - Sets and achieves challenging goals, demonstrates persistence and overcomes obstacles, measures self against standard of excellence, recognizes and acts on opportunities, and takes calculated risks to accomplish goals.\nTeamwork - Balances team and individual responsibilities, exhibits objectivity and openness to others' views, gives and welcomes feedback, contributes to building a positive team spirit, and puts success of team above own interests.\nWork Quality - Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness, displays commitment to excellence, looks for ways to improve and promote quality, applies feedback to improve performance, and monitors own work to ensure quality.\nJob Core Competencies\nCost Consciousness - Must demonstrate ability to find new and efficient ways of developing designs, preparing drawing, developing early material list for procurement, understanding the build plan and developing the needed tools for easy and accurate installation.\nJudgment - Displays willingness to make decisions, exhibits sound and accurate judgment, supports and explains reasoning for decisions, includes appropriate people in decision-making process, and makes timely decisions.\nManaging People - Provides direction and gains compliance, includes subordinates in planning, takes responsibility for subordinates' activities, makes self available to subordinates, provides regular performance feedback, and develops subordinates' skills and encourages growth.\nPlanning & Organization - Prioritizes and plans work activities, uses time efficiently, plans for additional resources, integrates changes smoothly, sets goals and objectives, and works in an organized manner.\nSummary of Education, Experience & Certification\nBachelor's degree (B.S.) in engineering; minimum 8 years industry experience; a minimum of 2 years’ experience successfully leading a team of engineers, including a proven track record of effective team building and talent development; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Aerospace background required.\nEmployees working on programs subject to International Traffic in Arms Regulations must qualify as a US Person which is defined as a US Citizen, a Permanent Resident who does not work for a foreign company/foreign government/foreign governmental agency or organization, or a political asylee for legal compliance purposes.\n\nRequired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities\nAbility to motivate, coach and manage a team including conducting annual performance reviews.\nStrong written and verbal communication and effective presentation skills.\nKnowledge of aircraft interiors and drawing development, installation and FAA requirements.\nProficient with Microsoft Office applications.
