This position is expected to work out of our office at 375 Industrial Road in Watsonville and limited job-related travel may be required.\nPositionSummary:\nGreenWasteis seeking to fill the position of Driver to provide support to one or more facilities. This role safely operates company collection vehicles for the collection of a wide range of materials from residential and/or commercial customers.\nEssential Functions and Responsibilities:\nSafely and effectively operate collection vehicle on a designated route.\nRead work orders and maps to service customers identified on work orders or as assigned by Route Supervisor or Dispatch.\nAccurately conducts pre and post trip inspections on collection vehicle in accordance with Company, State and Federal policies. Ensures all controls and safety equipment is in proper working condition. Notifies and reports any safety issues.\nSteadily monitors the condition of the vehicle ensuring it is operationally prepared.\nProvides professional and courteous services to customers daily. Contributes to the success of providing services in a timely and professional manner.\nEnsures all containers serviced are empty and leaves the service location free of debris and clean. Place all containers in properly designated areas.\nMaintains a current and valid commercial driver’s license (Class A or B) and medical certificate.\nOperates collection vehicles including mechanisms for dumping, loading, compressing, and lifting.\nInforms Route Supervisor of any injuries, accidents, property damage or incidents.\nIdentifies all containers in need of replacement or repair and reports it.\nCommunicates to Route Supervisor and/or Dispatch of any service interruptions.\nCompletes all duties assigned by Route Supervisor or Dispatch as well as assists other drivers as directed to meet service recipient needs.\nPerforms other duties as assigned\nKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:\nAbility to communicate professionally and effectively with all levels of customers as well as management.\nAbility to work well with other employees in a team environment and communicate to ensure safety.\nAbility to operate collection vehicles used by the company.\nAbility to read, write, comprehend, and communicate in English.\nKnowledge of relevant traffic laws, standard safety practices and applicable D.O.T. regulations.\nGreat time management skills and the ability to work well with others.\nQualifications:\nHigh school diploma or GED.\nExperience in commercial driving.\nCurrent and valid commercial driver’s license (Class A or B) and medical certificate/ ability to maintain acceptable records and license.\nAcceptable DMV record and acceptable D.O.T. record.\nComplete and pass pre-employment D.O.T. drug screenings.\nGreat time management skills.\nLanguage Skill:\nProficiency in English and/or Spanish \nPhysical Demands:\nAbility to physically push, pull and lift objects up to 75 lbs.\nAbility to work an 8-hour shift with possible overtime of up to 4 hours on occasion.\nConstant bending and twisting.\nFrequent sitting and semi-frequent walking.\nConstant climbing in and out of equipment to push/pull bins and/or carts.\nMotor coordination requirements includingleg dexterity as well as arm, hand, and finger coordination.\nSpecific vision abilities required, which may include but are not limited to distance, close, peripheral and color vision. As well as the ability to adjust focus and depth perception.\nWork Environment:\nTypical work week is Monday through Friday early mornings. Work setting is on average seated in a garbage truck or loader for extended periods of time. Will be exposed to outdoor weather conditions, noise, and odors/smells. Ability to work in setting with frequent changes in equipment, start/end time, service city/town and routes based on the operational needs for the day and or week. Schedules can vary, including early start times and evening start times.\nOvertime and weekend work are required on occasion.\nCompensation and Benefits:\nFinancial compensation will be commensurate with applicable experience.
