Germany is one of our most important markets. We've built a strong brand here and work with some of the most active developers, IPPs and energy companies in the country, including MaxSolar, Lintas, Suncatcher, Octopus Energy Generation, TotalEnergies and Shell.
Who we're looking for
We're looking for a Senior Energy Analyst with deep knowledge of the German power market to join our Berlin office. You'll be the second person in the office and a senior voice for Gridcog in Germany.
Your main job is to own our German customer relationships. You'll make sure customers model their projects well, get real value from Gridcog and keep choosing us. You'll use your market knowledge and network to make Gridcog a trusted voice in the market, help win new customers and make sure the product works for the target customer group.
What you'll do
Customers (the core of the role)
- Own a portfolio of German customer relationships as their main point of contact and trusted advisor
- Lead onboarding and guide customers on best practice modelling of solar, BESS and hybrid projects in Germany
- Handle complex technical and market questions, such as ancillary market participation, grid connection constraints, AgNes, and merchant versus contracted revenues
- Spot where accounts can grow and work with account management on renewals and expansion
- Keep our German datasets current, including market prices, network tariffs and project assumptions
Sales and marketing
- Lead demos and technical conversations with prospects, including senior stakeholders, e.g., partners, investment managers, MDs
- Build Gridcog's credibility in Germany and Central Europe through speaking at events and through your professional network, e.g., on LinkedIn
- Translate regulatory changes and market design developments into clear insight for customers
- Create blogs, videos and market commentary on the German market
- Speak and present at industry events
Product
- Bring German market requirements into product development and make sure they are understood and prioritised
- Feed market changes into product direction and feature development
- Test new features against real client use cases
What it's like being second in the office
Much of how we operate in Germany is still being built, and you'll often be the one setting it up. There won't always be a playbook. You'll need to make calls with incomplete information, act on them and adjust as you learn. We value moving fast over getting everything perfect, and we'd rather you ship something good and improve it than hold it back.
To be successful in this role you will have
- 3 to 10 years' experience in the German power sector, with solid knowledge of market dynamics, regulation and commercial models for utility-scale solar and battery storage
- A track record of owning client relationships and delivering excellent outcomes for them
- The confidence and credibility to represent Gridcog externally, lead demos and engage senior stakeholders
- Comfort working in an unstructured environment, making decisions and learning from what doesn't work
- Strong analytical skills and comfort working with data
- An engaging communication style and the motivation to create content and present at events over time
- A collaborative mindset and enthusiasm for working in a growing, international team
- Fluent German and English, and based in or open to relocating to Berlin
We'd also love it if you have
- Experience in sales or pre-sales, such as demos or client-facing analysis
- Practical experience in energy project modelling
- Familiarity with tools such as Excel, Tableau, Python or R
- Exposure to other European energy markets
