The Packaging Operator is responsible for the safe operation of the set-up, operation, adjustment, and clean-up of packaging equipment to contribute to the production of high-quality food products in compliance with company standards.\nAs a Packaging Operator your responsibilities will include:\nCompletes production reports documenting performance; enter transactions into RF equipment\n\nAdjusts equipment during operation to ensure that quality and productivity standards are met\n\nDumps product into hopper for filling\n\nPerforms change-over by setting up auger, funnel, tubing and former for specific lines and/or product\n\nCleans and washes line and equipment, and cleans work area and equipment at end of shift\n\nLoad and set film or units for form fill machines\n\nReports any product quality deviations or mechanical failures to maintenance or management.\n\nAdherence to all department procedures and GMP's, including following precise instructions.\n\nQualified candidates will have:\nAbility to regularly lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds throughout the shift\n\nAbility to read, write, and speak English fluently, including the ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos; ability to write simple correspondence; and the ability to communicate with individuals and small groups.\n\nAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.\n\nWorking knowledge or the ability to gain knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics AX and RedZone software.\n\nWorking overtime as needed throughout the week, up to and including Saturday work.\n\nAbility to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch for extended periods during the shift\n\nComfortable working with and around allergens and cleaning chemicals\n\nMust be able to work onsite in Alsip location\n\nCandidates must currently be at least 18 years of age AND possess unrestricted authorization to work in the United States. Work visa sponsorship is not available for this role.\nWhat will set you apart:\nHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED)\n\n3 months experience and/or training in a USDA regulated manufacturing environment\n\nExperience operating packaging equipment.\n\nFamiliarity with food safety requirements.\n\nPhysical Requirements:\nWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand and walk to communicate and listen effectively. This will require both office and plant environments. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
