The Packer is responsible for the safe operation of the set-up, operation, adjustment, and clean-up of packaging equipment to ensure product is packed, labeled & palletized in accordance with company quality, safety, and regulatory standards Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP), and Griffith Production System (GPS).\nAs a Packer your responsibilities will include:\nRead and interpret production schedules to pack finished goods accurately, ensuring correct cartons and labels are used\n\nAssemble cartons, apply labels, and pack the correct number of products into each carton\n\nSet up, operate, and maintain packaging equipment such as tapers and code daters\n\nStack cartons on pallets according to required configurations\n\nAccurately record production and yield data\n\nCleaning and sanitizing the production equipment and tools, including the work area.\n\nDisposal of trash and garbage containers.\n\nSupport audit requirements and maintain a clean, safe work environment\n\nQualified candidates will have:\nAbility to occasionally lift and/or carry up to 60 pounds throughout the shift and operate an electric pallet jack.\n\nAbility to read, write, and speak English fluently, including the ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos; ability to write simple correspondence; and the ability to communicate with individuals and small groups.\n\nAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.\n\nWorking knowledge or the ability to gain knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning.\n\nWillingness & ability to work overtime, as needed, throughout the week, up to and including Saturday work.\n\nAbility to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch for extended periods during the shift.\n\nComfortable working with and around allergens and cleaning chemicals.\n\nMust be able to work onsite in Avon, OH location\n\nCandidates must currently be at least 18 years of age AND possess unrestricted authorization to work in the United States. Work visa sponsorship is not available for this role.\nWhat will set you apart:\nHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED)\n\nPrevious manufacturing or packaging experience\n\nExperience working in a food production environment\n\nPhysical Requirements:\nWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, and walk to communicate and listen effectively. This will require both office and plant floor environments. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. The employee will occasionally need to operate and drive a forklift or electronic pallet jack to transport materials or goods.\nEnvironmental Concerns\nWhile performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet, cold and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; outside weather conditions and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
