By integrating engineering and factory production, MOD42 enables manufacturing and site preparation to progress simultaneously, creating a more efficient and predictable path to deployment.\nLed by experienced data center professionals, MOD42 develops scalable, repeatable infrastructure designed to reduce waste, minimize site impact, and adapt to evolving technology requirements. Learn more at MOD42.\nDesign the Future of Mission-Critical Infrastructure\nThis position is ideal for an engineer with approximately five to eight years of experience who enjoys doing the technical work, building detailed Revit models, producing coordinated construction documents, and solving practical design challenges. This person will work directly within the project models and drawings rather than primarily overseeing the work of others.\nThe successful candidate will bring strong Revit expertise, a solid understanding of HVAC and mechanical systems, and the ability to support projects from design development through fabrication, installation, and commissioning.\nExperience supporting data centers, mission-critical facilities, industrial infrastructure, manufacturing, or modular construction projects is highly desirable.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.\nFive to eight years of professional mechanical engineering or mechanical design experience.\nStrong proficiency with Revit, including mechanical system modeling, equipment layouts, piping, ductwork, schedules, details, and construction documentation.\nHands-on experience producing coordinated mechanical design packages.\nExperience designing HVAC and mechanical systems for commercial, industrial, manufacturing, modular, or mission-critical facilities.\nWorking knowledge of:Hydronic systems\nHVAC equipment selection\nHeating and cooling load calculations\nAirflow and duct design\nMechanical piping systems\nHeat-transfer principles\nMechanical controls and sequences of operation\n\nAbility to independently complete assigned design and modeling work while collaborating with a multidisciplinary project team.\nStrong attention to detail and model accuracy.\nPractical problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.\nAbility to manage changing priorities and evolving project requirements.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills.\nWillingness and ability to travel as project needs require.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience supporting data centers, mission-critical facilities, industrial facilities, or modular infrastructure projects.\nExperience developing mechanical designs for manufacturing or fabrication.\nFamiliarity with:High-density computing environments\nLiquid-cooling technologies\nRear-door heat exchangers\nCoolant Distribution Units\nChilled-water systems\nCentral utility plants\nRedundant cooling systems\n\nExperience using Navisworks for model coordination and clash detection.\nExperience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, BIM 360, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or similar design platforms.\nFamiliarity with energy modeling, CFD analysis, or mechanical system performance analysis.\nExperience supporting commissioning, startup, or field construction activities.\nEngineer-in-Training certification, Professional Engineer license, or progress toward licensure.\nKey Responsibilities\nRevit Modeling and Design Documentation\nDevelop detailed mechanical and HVAC system models using Revit.\nProduce coordinated construction documents, fabrication drawings, equipment layouts, sections, schedules, details, and installation packages.\nCreate and modify Revit families, templates, schedules, and model components as needed.\nMaintain accurate, organized, and constructible mechanical models throughout the project lifecycle.\nCoordinate mechanical models with architectural, structural, electrical, controls, and manufacturing disciplines.\nParticipate in model reviews and identify clashes, design conflicts, and coordination issues.\nIncorporate design changes, field conditions, vendor information, and redlines into project models and drawings.\nMechanical System Design\nDesign HVAC, cooling, mechanical piping, and thermal-management systems for modular and mission-critical facilities.\nDevelop practical engineering solutions that balance performance, reliability, manufacturability, constructability, and cost.\nPrepare equipment layouts, piping arrangements, ductwork designs, and mechanical room configurations.\nSupport projects from design development through fabrication and installation-level documentation.\nEngineering Calculations and Analysis\nPerform mechanical engineering calculations, including:\nHVAC equipment sizing\nHeating and cooling load calculations\nAirflow calculations\nDuct sizing\nPressure-drop calculations\nPump and piping sizing\nHydronic system calculations\nEvaluate system performance and make design adjustments based on project requirements, equipment limitations, and coordination needs.\nEquipment Selection and Integration\nSelect and specify HVAC and mechanical equipment, including:\nAir handling units\nChillers\nPumps\nHeat exchangers\nCoolant Distribution Units\nFans and ventilation equipment\nMechanical piping components\nRelated system accessories and controls\nReview manufacturer data, equipment dimensions, connection requirements, and service clearances to ensure proper integration into the Revit model and overall facility design.\nMultidisciplinary Coordination\nWork closely with mechanical, electrical, structural, architectural, controls, manufacturing, commissioning, and field installation teams.\nReview drawings, specifications, submittals, and vendor documentation for technical accuracy and constructability.\nParticipate in design coordination meetings and model-review sessions.\nIdentify constructability concerns, model conflicts, and design risks early in the project lifecycle.\nCommunicate design requirements and technical information clearly to internal teams, vendors, contractors, and clients.\nFabrication and Field Support\nSupport modular fabrication, equipment installation, commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, and field modifications.\nRespond to RFIs and assist with resolving design or installation issues.\nUpdate models and drawings to reflect approved changes and field conditions.\nCoordinate with manufacturing and field teams to ensure designs can be fabricated and installed efficiently.\nTravel as needed to manufacturing facilities, project sites, commissioning activities, and client meetings.\nIdeal Candidate\nThe ideal candidate is a hands-on mechanical engineer who is comfortable spending the majority of their time designing, modeling, coordinating, and producing project documentation in Revit.\nThey do not need to be a department leader or people manager. They are a technically capable doer who takes ownership of assigned systems, pays close attention to model quality, and enjoys turning engineering concepts into detailed, constructible designs.\nThis individual is practical, responsive, and comfortable working closely with engineers, designers, manufacturing teams, vendors, and field personnel. They thrive in a fast-moving environment where designs continue to evolve and where accuracy, accountability, adaptability, and teamwork are highly valued.\nCompensation\nThe anticipated base salary range for this position is $130,000 to $150,000 annually.
