GRNET provides advanced services to the following sectors: Education, Research, Health, and Culture.\nIn early 2026, GRNET is expected to host the DAEDALUS supercomputer, ranked among the top 30 fastest supercomputers worldwide, and also serving the Greek AI factory - Pharos - with its demanding AI and data-intensive workflows.\nWe are currently looking for a motivated HPC User Support Specialist to strengthen our team and provide high-quality support to researchers, engineers, and scientific users running workloads on national HPC resources.\nAs an HPC User Support Specialist, you will play a key role in enabling the scientific community to make effective use of HPC systems. Your responsibilities will include handling user requests, troubleshooting issues related to job submissions and workflows, guiding new users, and contributing to training material and documentation.\nYou will join a talented team with strong technical skills and a commitment to innovation, service excellence, and continuous improvement of GRNET’s HPC services.\nRequirements\nYour Tasks\n· Respond to and resolve HPC user support tickets\n· Assist users with job submission, scheduling, and workflow optimization\n· Support users in accessing systems, storage, and HPC software environments\n· Investigate and troubleshoot issues related to jobs, applications, and resource usage\n· Help users improve the performance of their workloads, including profiling and basic code optimisation support\n· Run and analyse application benchmarks and scaling tests to understand performance bottlenecks\n· Contribute to onboarding, user guides, and technical documentation\n· Participate in user training activities (webinars, tutorials, hands-on sessions)\n· Collaborate with system administrators to identify and resolve system-side issues impacting users\n· Provide feedback for improving HPC services and user experience\nYour Profile\n· Experience using Linux environments and command-line tools\n· Familiarity with HPC concepts such as modules, batch systems, job schedulers, and parallel computing\n· Exposure to HPC job schedulers (preferably Slurm)\n· Understanding of scientific computing workflows and common programming languages (e.g., Python, C/C++, Fortran, R)\n· Experience with HPC application execution or user support in a technical environment\n· Interest or experience in performance profiling (e.g., gprof, perf, Intel VTune, ARM MAP)\n· Ability to troubleshoot issues involving jobs, user environments, or software modules\n· Experience with ticketing or issue tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, Redmine, ServiceNow)\n· Good knowledge of Greek and English\nWill be considered a plus\n· Hands-on experience running workloads on HPC systems\n· Familiarity with profiling and performance tuning tools\n· Experience with containers for HPC (e.g., Apptainer/Singularity)\n· Knowledge of parallel programming (MPI, OpenMP)\n· Exposure to scientific domains (e.g., computational physics, AI/ML, bioinformatics)\n· Experience preparing training material or teaching technical subjects\n· MSc or PhD in a STEM field\nPersonal Characteristics\n· Excellent communication skills and ability to support users with varying levels of expertise\n· Team-oriented mindset and willingness to collaborate across roles\n· Strong problem-solving skills and analytical thinking\n· Motivation to learn new technologies and understand scientific applications\n· Reliability, adaptability, and commitment to providing a high level of service\n· Enthusiasm, persistence and willingness to deliver results on time\nBenefits\nGRNET provides a creative, dynamic and challenging working environment that encourages team spirit, cooperation, and continuous learning of state-of-the-art technologies.\n· Opportunities for international collaborations\n· Competitive remuneration package\n· Continuous professional development and training\n· Modern, friendly and innovative working environment\nGRNET is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
