In early 2026, GRNET is expected to host the DAEDALUS supercomputer, which will be ranked among the top 30 fastest supercomputers worldwide and will also serve the Greek AI factory - Pharos with special needs for AI workflows.\nWe are currently looking for a passionate Junior HPC System Administrator to expand existing team capability on implementing and providing advanced operational support for systems.\nAs a Junior HPC System Administrator you will contribute to the high availability and smooth operation of the HPC systems. Your role will include monitoring, automation, troubleshooting and user support.\nYou will be part of a talented team that demonstrates superb technical competency, delivering mission critical services and ensuring the highest levels of availability, performance and security. The team members are professionals, with a mindset to innovate, automate, streamline, and provide value to GRNET and to the users of the offered services.\nRequirements\nYour tasks\nMonitor system availability and respond to alerts\nAssist in automation of system configuration\nTroubleshoot issues with hardware, operating system and parallel file systems\nRespond to user support tickets\nContribute to system documentation\nYour Profile\nExperience in Linux administration (especially RHEL and RHEL clones) and Linux command-line tools.\nBasic understanding of networking concepts (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls).\nExperience with scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python or Perl) for task automation.\nFamiliarity with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible).\nExposure to monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Ganglia, Prometheus, Grafana).\nExperience in the use of ticketing / issue tracking and project management systems (e.g. Atlassian JIRA, Redmine, etc.)\nGood knowledge of Greek and English language.\nWill be considered a plus:\nBasic understanding of HPC concepts, such as parallel computing and job scheduling\nFamiliarity with job schedulers (e.g., SLURM, Torque) for managing compute workloads.\nExposure to HPC hardware components (e.g., GPUs, InfiniBand, parallel file systems like Lustre or GPFS).\nMSc or PhD in Computer Engineering or Computer Science.\n2-year experience in a relevant field (HPC environment).\nPersonal Characteristics:\nCreativity, innovation spirit and team player.\nDynamic personality, ability to accept challenges and undertake responsibilities.\nEnthusiasm, persistence and willingness to deliver results on time.\nBenefits\nGRNET provides a creative, dynamic and challenging working environment, that encourages team spirit, cooperation and continuous learning of state-of-the-art technology.\nOpportunities for International collaborations\nCompetitive remuneration package\nOpportunities for professional development\nModern, friendly and innovative working environment\nGRNET is an equal opportunity employer that is committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
