A proven ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines is necessary.\n\nPosition: Software Engineer\nReports to: Engineering Manager\nDepartment: Engineering \n\nPosition Summary\n\nReporting to the Engineering Manager, the individual will be responsible for the firmware development to provide integrated solutions for diverse mobile and automotive platforms. You will be part of a team involved in the design and development of modules used in the heavy-duty truck and bus market. This position includes the development of software that responds in real time. \nPrimary Responsibilities\nDesign, development and integration of custom firmware for various automotive modules.\nStrong coordination and collaboration across wide range of technical areas to include software, hardware, integration, architecture, simulation, manufacturing and quality disciplines.\nPaying attention to details during all phases of firmware design, development, integration, testing and release.\nOn time execution of defined tasks and deliverables, driving dependencies with other teams to a successful completion.\nSystem design, implementation and integration of new software features.\nMaintain, support, and improve existing products. \nCreate and manage software designs and manufacturing documentation for various products.\nProblem solving using root cause analysis techniques.\nCode review.\nOther duties as required.\n\nMinimum Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in software engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.\n4+ years’ experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.\nGood English written and verbal communication skills, expected to interact with other engineers, suppliers and customers.\nStrong attention to detail.\nExcellent problem-solving skills.\nBe a highly motivated self-starter capable of working independently as well as in a group setting.\nBe well organized and able to multi-task.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\n2 to 5 years of experience with embedded software design and validation.\nC Programming.\nStrong communication skills.\nStrong collaborative skills working with multiple teams.\nChip/SoC on-target, emulation and simulation platform and debug experience.\nHighly proficient in C.\nGood analytical, debugging and problem-solving skills.\nARM microprocessor architecture and ARM Assembly language experience.\nGood understanding of basic real-time/embedded programming, resource-constrained environments, and operating systems.\nBe able to use Microsoft Office, Internet & Enterprise One Resource Planning Software.\nGood analytical, debugging and problem-solving skills.\nUnderstanding of the IATF16949 and ISO 26262 quality standards.\n\n(Successful projects can be used in lieu of experience)\nCompliance Statement\nGrote Electronics complies with the Ontario Employment Standards Act, 2000 (ESA) and all applicable employment laws.
