Join us, where we’ll make a greater impact together.\nWhat You'll do:\nGroundswell is seeking an experienced Appian Data Architect to support a mission-critical federal program. This role will work as part of a cross-functional technical team to design and implement scalable, secure data solutions supporting enterprise applications built on the Appian platform.\nThe Data Architect will provide technical leadership across data modeling, application data architecture, database design, integrations, performance, and data governance. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with the ability to collaborate with solution architects, developers, and client stakeholders to translate complex business and technical requirements into effective data solutions.\nResponsibilities\nDesign and maintain scalable data architectures supporting complex enterprise applications and business processes.\nDevelop conceptual, logical, and physical data models, including data structures, relationships, schemas, and standards.\nDesign data solutions supporting applications developed on the Appian platform, including Appian data stores, record types, data synchronization, and integration with external data sources.\nDefine how application data is stored, accessed, integrated, and exchanged across Appian and external systems of record.\nDesign and optimize relational database solutions and complex SQL queries to support application functionality and performance.\nPartner with Appian architects, developers, and integration teams to develop technical designs and resolve complex data and application architecture challenges.\nEvaluate existing data structures and recommend improvements to scalability, performance, maintainability, and data quality.\nDesign data integrations using APIs, web services, and other enterprise integration patterns.\nEstablish and promote standards for data integrity, security, access controls, metadata, and data governance.\nTroubleshoot complex application, database, integration, and performance issues and provide recommendations for resolution.\nParticipate in architecture and technical design reviews and ensure solutions align with program and federal technology standards.\nProvide technical guidance and mentorship to development teams and serve as a subject matter expert for data architecture and Appian-related data solutions.\nCollaborate directly with federal client stakeholders to understand requirements, evaluate technical options, and communicate architecture recommendations.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.\n10+ years of experience in software development, application architecture, data architecture, database engineering, or a related technical discipline.\nSignificant experience designing data solutions for complex enterprise applications.\nStrong experience with relational database technologies, SQL, data modeling, database design, and performance optimization.\nExperience designing integrations between enterprise applications and external data sources using APIs, web services, and other integration technologies.\nExperience with Appian or a comparable enterprise low-code/BPM/case management platform.\nStrong understanding of application architecture and the relationship between application design, data architecture, integrations, and system performance.\nExperience diagnosing and resolving complex technical and performance issues across applications, databases, and integrations.\nAbility to translate business and functional requirements into scalable technical and data architecture solutions.\nStrong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with technical teams, business stakeholders, and senior client leadership.\nExperience providing technical leadership, conducting design reviews, and mentoring developers or engineers.\nExperience supporting federal government programs or other large, complex enterprise environments preferred.\nU.S. Citizenship required.
