Join us, where we’ll make a greater impact together.\nWhat You'll do:\nGroundswell is seeking a Data Scientist to help build, configureand operate an AI-assisted platform that helps organizations understand, governand move complex enterprise data. It combines knowledge graphs, semantic search, machine learningand AI agents with human review. You will work on the ground with a small team to prepare this platform for mission use. Your work spans data preparation, knowledge management, AI evaluationand the analysis that drives platform decisions. You will make sure outputs are accurate, explainableand trusted by mission stakeholders.\nWhat You'll Do\nTranslate mission and customer data questions into clear objectives, success measuresand evaluation criteria.\n\nProfile, cleanand characterize complex multi-source enterprise data. Identifygaps, conflicts, quality issuesand relationships that affect downstream use.\n\nBuild and maintainthe metadata, data dictionaries and reference vocabularies that ground the data platform in each customer environment.\n\nConfigure and tune AI-assisted capabilities that match, classify, rankand validatedata across systems.\n\nEvaluate AI agents and language-model workflows for accuracy, grounding, consistencyand failure modes. Build test sets and track quality over time.\n\nAnalyze human review feedback to find systematic errors and improve platform performance.\n\nSupport data validation and reconciliation so integrated or migrated data can be trusted.\n\nPartner with data, softwareand cloud engineers to move validated improvements into production with version control and measurable results.\n\nCreate clear visualizations, narrativesand briefings for technical and non-technical stakeholders, without overstating certainty.\n\nHandle sensitive data under appropriate accesscontrols, governanceand auditability. Maintain reproducible code, experimentsand documentation.\n\nContribute data science expertiseto solution planning and proposal efforts as needed.\n\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineeringor a related field; advanced degree preferred.\n\n5+ years applying statistics, machine learning, data analysisor related quantitative methods to real-world problems.\n\nStrong Python and SQL skills with common data science libraries (pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn or comparable).\n\nExperience with knowledge graphs, graph data modeling or semantic technologies such as ontologies and taxonomies.\n\nHands-on experience with language models or AI-assisted workflows, including evaluating output quality.\n\nMust be a U.S. Citizen per contract requirements.\n\nMust be able to obtain and maintaina Public Trust Clearance in accordance withcontract requirements.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nGraph databases and query languages, such as Neo4j and Cypher.\n\nVector search, embeddings, RAG, and AI agent frameworks such as LangGraph.\n\nEntity resolution, record linkage, and systems for matching, classifying, linking, or ranking records.\n\nEnterprise data migration, ETL, or modernization, particularly for ERP or HR systems.\n\nTime-series analysis, anomaly detection, model monitoring, and drift analysis.\n\nCloud data and ML services on AWS or another major cloud platform.\n\nHuman-in-the-loop AI workflows, experiment tracking, and model evaluation.\n\nExperience working in segmented networks, controlled-change environments, or formal authorization environments.\n\nActive Public Trust Clearance.\n\nPreference given to candidates local to the Washington, DC metro area\n\nCertifications\nA relevant certification in data science, machine learning, cloudor analytics is preferred.\n\nSkills:\nCertification:\nWhy You’ll Never Want to Leave:\nComprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans \nFlexible Spending Account \n4% 401K Match (immediate vesting) \nPaid Time Off \nTuition reimbursement, certification programs, and professional development\nFlexible work schedule\nOn-site gym and childcare option \nThe salary range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.
