As a well-funded early-stage startup, Gruve offers a dynamic environment with strong customer and partner networks.\nPosition summary:\nWe are looking for a skilled L2 System Administrator to support enterprise Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server database environments. The role is responsible for database monitoring, incident resolution, routine administration, backup validation, performance troubleshooting, job monitoring and operational maintenance. The administrator will work closely with L1 operations, L3 Database SMEs, Application, Server, Storage and Infrastructure teams to ensure database availability, data integrity and SLA compliance.\nKey Responsibilities:\nOracle Database Operations\nProvide L2 support for Oracle Database incidents, alerts and service requests.\nMonitor database availability, tablespace utilization, sessions, locks, alert logs and critical database processes.\nTroubleshoot connectivity issues, failed jobs, space utilization and routine database performance problems.\nSupport tablespace management, user administration, privileges and approved configuration changes.\nMonitor RMAN backup status and coordinate restore and recovery activities with the DBA team.\nSupport scheduled database maintenance, health checks and patching activities as per approved procedures.\nMonitor Data Guard status & replication alerts where applicable, escalate complex issues to L3.\nMicrosoft SQL Server Operations\nProvide L2 operational support for Microsoft SQL Server instances and databases.\nMonitor database availability, SQL Agent jobs, database growth, disk utilization and error logs.\nTroubleshoot failed jobs, connectivity issues, blocking sessions and basic performance problems.\nSupport database user administration, permissions and approved configuration changes.\nMonitor backup status and validate scheduled backup and maintenance jobs.\nSupport database maintenance, patching and post-change validation.\nAssist with Always On availability groups and replication monitoring where applicable.\nOperations & Service Management\nResolve database incidents and service requests within defined SLAs.\nFollow ITIL Incident, Problem, Change and Request Management processes.\nPerform routine database health checks and investigate monitoring alerts.\nSupport major incident restoration, backup verification and disaster recovery activities.\nEscalate complex performance, corruption, recovery and availability issues to L3 Database SMEs.\nMaintain runbooks, operational documentation, incident records and shift handover notes.\nCoordinate with Application, Server, Storage/Backup, Network and Infrastructure teams.\nEnsure effective APAC-EMEA-NLAM follow-the-sun handovers.\nRequired Skills:\n3-6 years hands-on experience supporting Oracle Database and/or Microsoft SQL Server environments.\nKnowledge of database availability, sessions, locks, logs, space utilization and job monitoring.\nWorking knowledge of SQL queries and basic database troubleshooting.\nExperience monitoring Oracle RMAN or SQL Server backup and maintenance jobs.\nUnderstanding of database users, roles, permissions and connectivity.\nKnowledge of database backup, restore, recovery and high-availability fundamentals.\nFamiliarity with Oracle Data Guard or SQL Server Always On is an advantage.\nExperience with monitoring tools and ServiceNow or equivalent ITSM platforms.\nUnderstanding of ITIL Incident, Problem, Change and Request Management.\nExperience in SLA-driven enterprise production operations and 24x7 support.\nPreferred Skills:\nOracle Database or Microsoft SQL Server certifications.\nKnowledge of Oracle RAC, Data Guard, SQL Server Always On and replication.\nExposure to performance tuning, execution plans and index maintenance.\nExperience with database patching, upgrades and capacity management.\nLocation / Support Model\nGlobal 24x7x365 support across APAC, EMEA and NLAM, working in a rotational shift-based, follow-the-sun operating model.\nBasic scripting using Shell, PowerShell or SQL.\nFamiliarity with enterprise monitoring, backup and disaster recovery tools.\nWhy Gruve\nAt Gruve, we foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
