Your responsibilities will align with your experience, technical specialty, and the needs of the specific opening.\nWhat You'll be Owning\nDepending on your assignment, you will:\nDesign, develop, test, maintain, and troubleshoot software applications, services, and reusable components.\nBuild and integrate enterprise APIs, RESTful web services, and microservices.\nDevelop Python-based services and integrate AI capabilities into enterprise applications.\nDevelop and maintain containerized applications and Kubernetes deployments.\nParticipate in code reviews, automated testing, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.\nUse development tools and, where applicable, AI coding assistants to support implementation, refactoring, and testing while reviewing generated code for security, performance, and quality.\nCollaborate within an Agile team to translate requirements into working software.\nFor senior openings, provide technical guidance, mentor engineers, and contribute to architectural decisions.\nPositions may require work at a customer site, office, or a combination of onsite and remote work. Hybrid availability and onsite frequency depend on the specific opening and may change with customer requirements.\nWhat You Must Have\nAn active U.S. Government Secret clearance or higher and U.S. citizenship. Certain openings require an active Top Secret clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI. Candidates must meet the clearance requirements of the specific assignment.\nRelevant software engineering experience and education appropriate to the opening:\nAll openings require at least 5 years of relevant experience with a bachelor’s degree in a related field; 3 years with a related master’s degree; or 9 years with a high-school diploma or equivalent.\nSenior openings require at least 9 years of relevant experience with a related bachelor’s degree; 7 years with a related master’s degree; or 13 years with a high-school diploma or equivalent.\nExperience developing, testing, maintaining, or troubleshooting software in a relevant technical specialty.\nExperience designing enterprise APIs, RESTful web services, and microservices.\nFamiliarity with Git or comparable version-control tools and comfort working in a Linux environment.\nStrong problem-solving skills, attention to software quality, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.\nAbility to meet the location and onsite requirements of the assigned opening.\nFor designated openings, an applicable DoD 8140/8570 certification, such as Security+, or the ability to obtain the required certification within the specified timeframe, which may be within 60 days of hire.\nCandidates are considered for openings that match their skills; experience in every specialty below is not required.\nJava and backend development: Strong Java development skills; experience with frameworks or libraries such as Spring or Guava; object-oriented programming; enterprise APIs, RESTful web services, and microservices; and tools such as Git, Maven, and Nexus.\nPython and AI integration: Strong Python backend development experience; hands-on integration of commercial large language model APIs or open-source models into applications; understanding of agents, prompting, tool use, and retrieval-augmented generation; and experience deploying containerized workloads in Kubernetes. Assignments may include developing Model Context Protocol servers, reusable AI tools, and safeguards for enterprise AI use.\nKubernetes-focused software engineering: Strong Java development experience and hands-on experience building and maintaining Kubernetes deployments using tools such as Helm and Flux.\nSenior technical responsibilities: Demonstrated experience serving as a technical lead, mentor, or engineering manager where required by the opening.\nWhat Would be Nice to Have\nExperience with AWS or Azure.\nExperience with data lakes, data warehouses, Big Data Platform environments, or distributed systems.\nExperience with SQL or NoSQL databases, including PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or search technologies such as Elasticsearch and Solr.\nExperience with CI/CD automation, GitLab pipelines, scripting, or additional languages such as Go and Python.\nExperience developing Kubernetes operators, custom resource definitions, or other custom Kubernetes tooling.\nFamiliarity with AI integration frameworks such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, CrewAI, or AutoGen; vector databases; semantic caching; and AI observability.\nExperience with Kafka, NiFi, or integration of Java services with Python-based AI capabilities.\nExperience using AI coding assistants for implementation, refactoring, and automated testing.\nFamiliarity with Agile development tools such as Jira and GitHub.\nPay Range: At GRVTY, we understand that compensation is influenced by many factors-such as geographic location, federal contract labor categories, wage rates, prior experience, skillsets, education, and certifications.\nWe’re proud to offer a work environment that empowers our team to achieve a strong work-life balance.
