We are a global biopharma company with a special purpose - to unite science, technology and talent to get ahead of disease together. We’re proud to be leading a healthcare revolution, and we’re looking for people who can help us deliver on our ambition\nJob Purpose\nThe ServiceNow Technical & Enablement Architect is accountable for setting the technical standards, patterns, and engineering practices that govern how solutions are built across the ServiceNow Platform & Enterprise Tools domain, ensuring consistent, scalable, and secure delivery aligned to enterprise architecture direction.\nThe role translates platform strategy into reusable standards and development guardrails, and builds the engineering capability to apply them - through enablement, coaching, and hands-on guidance across ServiceNow development, configuration, and integration practices. This role supports Core platform capabilities for NLU, Chat and Service Portal in partnership with the Platform Manager and Product Managers, specifically the ServiceNow Data Intelligence & Experience Product Manager, who is accountable for ensuring UX experience aligned across the platform.\nOperating at a senior technical leadership level, the role provides design assurance, owns the technical skills path for engineers, and raises the consistency and craft of the engineering organization. It partners with the Automation Engineering Architect, Platform Architecture, and engineering leads to close capability gaps and reduce technical debt from inconsistent practices.\nThe role sets standards and builds capability; it does not own delivery. Solution build sits with engineering teams, automation design with the Automation Engineering Architect, backlog priority with the Product Owner, and target architecture with Enterprise Architecture\nKey Responsibilities\nDefine reference architectures, patterns and standards for the platform, aligned to DPTF strategy and to enterprise architecture. \nDesign AI into the platform, producing reference patterns for AI-assisted delivery and for intelligent, self-healing operations. \nArchitect for reliability and resilience by design, so that platform SLOs and error budgets are achievable rather than aspirational. \nProvide design assurance and technical guidance to engineering teams, reviewing designs against the standards before build rather than after. \nEnsure platform solutions are secure and compliant, including GxP requirements where the platform supports regulated activity. \nEvaluate and introduce new technologies, measuring the result against architecture OKRs rather than adopting on vendor claim. \nSet architecture standards that supplier and managed-service solutions must meet, and assure their designs to the same bar as internal work. \nPartner with Enterprise Architecture and Information Security on standards, roadmaps and exceptions. \nIncrease pattern reuse across the platform, tracking where teams have adopted a pattern and where they have diverged and why. \nReduce rework by intervening early in design, and evidence the reduction rather than asserting it. \nAdvise the Product Owner and Platform Manager on the architectural consequence of roadmap choices, including technical debt being accepted. \nHold the boundaries with the Platform Architecture Director on domain target architecture, the Solution Architect on cross-domain initiative designs, and the engineering teams on build.\nWhy You!\nWe are seeking professionals with the following required skills and qualifications to help us achieve our goals:\nDegree in a technology or engineering discipline, or equivalent practical experience (e.g., Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems). \nArchitecture certifications desirable (e.g., TOGAF, or recognised cloud or network architecture certification relevant to the platform).\nExperience in technology architecture or senior engineering, including at least three years producing reference architectures or standards others build to. \nDeep hands-on depth in the relevant platform domain, whether cloud, network or digital workplace. \nExperience running design assurance or architecture review, including declining designs that did not meet the standard. \nTrack record of architecting for reliability and resilience, working to SLOs and error budgets. \nExperience designing secure and compliant solutions, ideally including GxP or another regulated context. \nExperience setting architecture standards that supplier or managed-service solutions had to meet. \nAwareness of AI reference patterns for assisted delivery and intelligent operations\nOther Job-Related Skills/Background\nAbility to influence engineering teams without line authority, so that patterns are adopted rather than circumvented. \nJudgement about when to grant an architectural exception and when to hold the standard. \nClear design documentation, since patterns are only reusable if others can follow them. \nComfort challenging vendor claims and evaluating technology on measured outcome. \nPragmatism about technical debt, making the cost visible rather than blocking delivery outright. \nInterested in Joining the Team?\nIf this role speaks to you, please submit your CV and a short note describing one ServiceNow automation or integration you led. Tell us what you built, your role, and the business impact. We look forward to hearing from you.\n(Please take a personal copy of the Job Description, as this will not be available online post closure of the advert)\nWhat you will gain\nYou will shape how automation supports teams across the organisation. You will grow your technical leadership skills and influence platform strategy. You will work with diverse teams and make a visible contribution to outcomes that matter.\nClosing Date: 31st October 2026\nWorking Pattern\nThis is a hybrid role, with a min of 2/3 days a week onsite at our central London HQ. Fully remote working is not available.\nSkills\nCloud Computing, Container Orchestration, Data Center Management, DevOps, Disaster Recovery (DR), Identity Access Management (IAM), Information Technology (IT) Risk Management, Integration Platform as a Service (iPaaS), Network Design, Serverless Platforms, Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), Storage Area Network (SAN), System Monitors, Technical Architecture, Technical Architecture Design, Virtualization, Zero Trust ArchitectureWhy GSK?\nUniting science, technology and talent to get ahead of disease together.\nGSK is a global biopharma company with a purpose to unite science, technology and talent to get ahead of disease together.
