This role focuses on generator maintenance and repair, load-bank support, fuel readiness, small engine and pump work, forklift maintenance coordination, light fabrication, vendor oversight, and maintenance evidence. It's an ideal opportunity for a hands-on mechanical technician who wants to build a specialty in critical infrastructure-where your work keeps generators ready to fire when every second counts.\nHere is what the role looks like:\nAs a Facility Mechanical Technicianat GTA Data Centers, you'll own day-to-day generator and mechanical support systems, troubleshooting issues before they impact operations and ensuring critical backup power stays ready. Your day-to-day will include:\nOwn day-to-day generator maintenance and repair execution across assigned data center sites within qualification limits.\nInspect generators, fuel systems, starting systems, batteries, controls, enclosures, exhaust, cooling, and related support equipment.\nTroubleshoot generator alarms, failed starts, abnormal readings, leaks, vibration, overheating, fuel concerns, and control faults within qualification limits.\nPerform or coordinate generator repairs, parts replacement, adjustments, and corrective maintenance according to approved work boundaries.\nMaintain generator PM schedules, run-hour records, inspection logs, maintenance history, service reports, and readiness evidence.\nPlan and support generator load-bank testing with the Facility Engineer, Facility Electrical Technician, vendors, and site operations.\nCapture load-bank test results, deficiencies, corrective actions, acceptance evidence, and follow-up requirements.\nCoordinate fuel readiness, fuel quality checks, fuel vendor support, tank observations, leak concerns, and refueling readiness.\nRepair and maintain small engines, pumps, portable mechanical equipment, and similar support equipment within qualification limits.\nSupport forklift maintenance coordination, inspections, basic troubleshooting, and vendor repair follow-up.\nPerform small welding, bracket, guard, stand, rack, or facility-fabrication projects when trained, authorized, and safe to do so.\nIdentify required spares, consumables, tools, filters, fluids, batteries, belts, sensors, welding consumables, and test equipment.\nCoordinate generator vendor work and verify vendor work quality before closeout.\nReduce dependency on unreliable vendor support by validating service quality and identifying recurring vendor gaps.\nTrack open generator and mechanical deficiencies and escalate reliability risks to the Facility Engineer and Director of Technical Operations.\nPerform weekly data hall inspections and provide findings to the Director of Operations and Facility Engineer.\nPerforms other related duties and special projects assigned to support evolving business priorities\nCandidates must show:\nStrong hands-on mechanical aptitude with generator, engine, pump, fuel, or equipment-maintenance experience preferred.\nAbility to troubleshoot mechanical symptoms methodically and document findings, parts, service actions, and unresolved risks.\nComfortable working around critical infrastructure, rotating equipment, fuel systems, batteries, electrical interfaces, and vendors.\nAbility to follow MOPs, EOPs, safety procedures, hot-work controls, tool controls, and maintenance checklists.\nPractical fabrication, welding, forklift, pump, small engine, or field-repair experience is helpful.\nHere’s what you need to have:\nHigh school diploma or equivalent required. Trade school, diesel/mechanical training, military technical training, generator training, or equivalent work experience strongly preferred.\n2 or more years of generator, diesel, mechanical, pump, equipment, facilities, or field-service maintenance experience preferred. Data center experience is helpful but not required.\nExperience with generators, fuel systems, batteries, starters, controls, engines, pumps, forklifts, or load-bank support is preferred.\nGenerator vendor training, welding, forklift, OSHA, hot work, CPR/first aid, or mechanical certifications are helpful but not required at hire.\nElectrical and fuel-system work must stay within legal, safety, training, and site authorization boundaries.\nMust possess a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel between various locations\nMust be able to pass required background checks and follow data center security, safety, and access-control policies.\nStill Interested?
