We offer a hybrid/core work week, where employees are remote Mondays and Fridays, and required to be on-site Tuesday through Thursday, subject to manager discretion. This position may require some field travel to GTI Energy’s offsite Fort Collins, CO office location as needed.\nTravel\nLess than 5%\nPrimary Responsibilities\nIn this role, you may:\nPerform exploratory data analyses and apply statistical modeling and machine learning approaches to answer research questions and develop tools to support data-driven decision making\nScrape and wrangle data from open-source repositories\nCreate data visualizations and dashboards to communicate insights and findings to stakeholders\nDevelop energy systems models to characterize interactions among energy supply and demand, as impacted by new technologies, climate, and weather\nApply and develop advanced analytical techniques such as AI, computer vision, and neural networks\nDevelop presentations and written reports to communicate findings\nDevelop unique approaches to investigating key research questions, including leading programs related to methane emissions mitigation, digitalization in energy, and net zero energy systems\nSupport ongoing research efforts using a disciplined approach and standard best practices\nParticipate in 1-on-1 and team meetings and contribute to team projects\nParticipate in GTI Energy Modeling and Energy System Analytics team building and networking events\nPerform other duties as assigned\nRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities\nExcellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently\nStrong written and oral communication, including an ability to translate technical information into a format that is understandable and valuable to non-technical audiences\nAbility to work collaboratively on teams with both technical and non-technical members\nGeneral knowledge of the energy industry, particularly related to the natural gas supply chain (including emissions management), hydrogen, energy efficiency, or engineering methods\nWillingness to learn new analytical techniques and data science methods\nStrong organizational and time management skills with excellent attention to detail\nStrong programming skills, preferably in R, Python, or similar software\nAbility to wrangle and process data using programming libraries (e.g., tidyverse, pandas)\nPolicy and Regulation knowledge related to energy is a plus\nFamiliarity with/interest in environmental justice is a plus\nFamiliarity with and ability to implement basic statistical analyses and concepts, such as t-tests, linear regression, hypothesis testing, and confidence intervals, and machine learning techniques, such as classification, clustering, and predictive modeling\nFamiliarity with advanced statistical methods such as Bayesian analysis, time-series or spatial analyses, or survey statistics a plus\nGIS experience and programming is a plus\nEducation and Experience\nCurrently enrolled in or completed within the last year a Bachelor or Master’s degree program in computer science, data science, statistics, mathematics or a related field\nExperience demonstrating ability to communicate technical statistical/analytical concepts a plus\nExperience using data visualization techniques and programming libraries (e.g., scatterplots, boxplots, ggplot2, pandas, matplotlib)\nEngineering and Science:Physical & Work Environment Requirements\nWork is performed in laboratory, pilot plant, or technical facility environments and may involve:\nRemaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods\nRepeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers\nStand for extended periods and move between workspaces while adhering to established safety procedures\nWork in laboratory environments with exposure to noise, temperature variations, and controlled chemical or mechanical hazards\nLift up to 30 pounds\nPerform repetitive lifting of moderate weight\nClimb stairs and ladders and stand for up to 4 hours per day\nWork outdoors in varying environmental conditions\nRemaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.\nRepeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.\nPay Transparency\nThe salary range for this position is $17/hour - $28/hour USD annually.
