Your work will involve improving a complex codebase, researching new code-hardening and optimization techniques, and solving challenging engineering problems where security, performance, compatibility, and developer experience all matter.\nAs one of our first engineers in Singapore, you will help establish and shape our local R&D presence alongside newly hired engineers and experienced colleagues relocating from our headquarters in Leuven.\nUp to 50% of your role will focus on R&D Customer Support. This is not traditional helpdesk support: you will investigate, reproduce, and debug complex technical issues while working closely with customers and internal engineering teams to find robust solutions.\nYou will report to the local Managing Director for office-related matters and functionally to your R&D Team Lead for technical priorities, guidance, and professional development.\nWhat You'll Work On\nDevelop and improve our Java-based products, including ProGuard, DexGuard, and future Java technologies.\nResearch, test, and implement new code-hardening, optimization, and application-processing techniques.\nWork with Java bytecode, compiler technology, build pipelines, and complex application-processing workflows.\nMaintain and continuously improve a large, mature codebase.\nInvestigate, reproduce, and debug complex technical issues.\nHelp customers successfully integrate and use our software.\nCollaborate with customers and internal R&D teams to solve challenging engineering problems.\nImprove software quality through extensive testing.\nStay ahead of developments in Java, compiler technology, mobile application security, and reverse engineering.\nWhat You Bring\nMaster's degree in Computer Science or a related field.\nAt least 2-3 years of relevant software engineering experience.\nExcellent Java skills.\nExperience working with large or complex codebases.\nExperience with Linux.\nExperience with low-level programming and debugging.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.\nThe ability to communicate complex technical topics clearly and collaborate directly with customers.\nAn interest in software security and reverse engineering.\nNice to Have\nKnowledge of compiler technology, Java bytecode, or complex application processing.\nExperience with code obfuscation or optimization techniques.\nKnowledge of information security.\nExperience with reverse engineering and commonly used tools.\nFamiliarity with Android and Android build tools such as Gradle and ProGuard.\nWhy Guardsquare?\nThis is not standard Java application development.\nYou will work at the intersection of Java engineering, compiler technology, mobile security, and reverse engineering.
