This role, based in New Orleans, LA, will focus on the maintenance of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), ISO 9001 and AS9100 quality management systems, along with applying Six Sigma methodologies to drive continuous improvement. The engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to maintain compliance, optimize processes, and enhance product reliability. Lead the company’s reporting on KPIs and quality metrics to enable a lean and high quality manufacturing environment. \nQuality Management & Compliance: \nSustain AS9100, ISO 9001 and APQP standards within the quality management system (QMS). \nEnsure compliance with industry regulations, customer requirements, and internal quality standards. \nConduct and support internal and external audits to uphold quality assurance standards. \nDevelop and maintain control plans, FMEAs, and VSM’s for manufacturing processes. \nProcess & Product Quality Improvement: \nUtilize Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing principles to identify and implement process improvements. \nAnalyze quality data and trends to drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). \nDevelop, review, and validate Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) submissions for new product introductions and supplier quality. \nLead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for process deviations and customer complaints. \nWork collaboratively with the engineering and production teams to improve composite material processes. \nRecognize potential shortfalls in design processes and develop corrective actions to reduce defects. Leadership includes CoPQ reduction actions as well as monitoring and auditing for effectiveness. \nSupplier & Manufacturing Support: \nEvaluate and approve raw materials and components for composite parts. \nSupport supplier quality activities, including audits, performance monitoring, and defect resolution. \nWork closely with design and manufacturing engineers to ensure material specifications and quality requirements are met. \nDocumentation & Reporting: \nGenerate and present reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to quality metrics and non-conformances. \nMaintain and update quality documentation, including work instructions, standard operating procedures, and inspection criteria. \nAssist in customer communication and resolution of quality-related concerns. \nOther duties as assigned\nRequired qualifications\nMinimum 1-5 years of experience in quality engineering within manufacturing industry or a related field (composites, aerospace, automotive, etc.). \nBachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Materials Engineering, or a related field. \nExperience in root cause analysis (8D, 5Why, Fishbone, etc.). \nProficiency in statistical analysis and quality tools (SPC, MSA, DOE, etc.). \nFamiliarity with manufacturing inspection techniques and non-destructive testing (NDT) for composites. \nStrong problem-solving and analytical skills. \nProject Management Experience \nExcellent communication and collaboration abilities. \nAbility to act as a change agent. \nPrior experience in a customer-facing role \nStrong attention to detail and ability to work independently. \nProactive mindset with a drive for continuous improvement. \nDesired characteristics\nHands-on experience with APQP, PPAP, AS9100, and ISO 9001\nStrong understanding of composite materials and manufacturing processes\nCertification in Six Sigma (Green Belt or Black Belt, ASQ preferred)\nCertification as a Quality engineer or as a Reliability engineer \nExperience with ERP and QMS software \nWorking Conditions: \nPrimarily based in a manufacturing environment with exposure to production areas. \nOccasional travel will be required for supplier audits, site visits, and customer visits. \nAbility to work in a fast-paced and dynamic industry. \nA successful candidate will possess equal measures of creativity and passion, technical and interpersonal skills, and a drive and willingness to push the boundaries of blade innovation and technology development.
