AI experience requirements vary by role and will be assessed during the interview process.\nAbout the Role:\nAs a Sr Staff Software Engineer on the Entity Management team, you will lead the technical development of a new product that will remove the burden of compliance for our entrepreneurs, helping them focus on growing their business without worrying about paperwork. You will be responsible for executing key technical initiatives within the team roadmap, collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders, and mentoring engineers. If you are passionate about driving innovation and making a significant impact, we would love to have you join our team.\nAbout the Team:\nThe Entity Management team is responsible for building and maintaining tools that help small businesses manage the entire lifecycle of their legal and compliance needs, including incorporation. This means supporting business owners from the very first step of getting their company incorporated, all the way through ongoing compliance, account monitoring, and even dissolution if needed. The team’s mission is to simplify and automate these often complex, time-consuming processes, so business owners can focus on growing their business without worrying about government regulations.\nHere’s what you’ll do day-to-day:\nExecute on the technical roadmap for the new product within your team's scope, ensuring alignment with overall business goals and Entity Management objectives.\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product Management, Design, Customer Support, and Marketing, to deliver high-quality solutions.\nMentor and guide engineers on the team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.\nDevelop the team’s software development process and technical approaches to ensure efficient and effective project execution.\nDrive the implementation of new functionality in legacy systems to enhance support for the new customer base.\nServe as a technical leader within the team, designing solutions and overcoming technical challenges to drive the project forward.\nParticipate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to maintain code quality standards.\nHere’s what we're looking for:\n10+ years of professional software development experience, including experience leading greenfield product development.\nRuby on Rails, Typescript, and React experience is preferred but not required.\nExperience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including Product Management, Design, and Marketing.\nStrong mentorship skills with a track record of fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement within a team.\nExperience acting as a technical leader, solving complex problems, and driving innovation.\nAbility to develop and enhance the team’s software development processes and technical approaches.\nExcellent communication skills, capable of explaining complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.\nPlease note that travel to Gusto’s Denver office for onboarding is required for this position. If you have any questions regarding this requirement, please share with your recruiter.\nOur cash compensation amount for this role is targeted at $225,000/yr to $275,000/yr for San Francisco. Stock equity is additional. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise and may vary from the amounts listed above.\nGusto has physical office spaces in Denver, San Francisco, and New York City. Employees who are based in those locations will be expected to work from the office on designated days approximately 2-3 days per week (or more depending on role). The same office expectations apply to all Symmetry roles, Gusto's subsidiary, whose physical office is in Scottsdale.\nNote: The San Francisco office expectations encompass both the San Francisco and San Jose metro areas. \nWhen approved to work from a location other than a Gusto office, a secure, reliable, and consistent internet connection is required.
