Role also includes facilitation of workflow, ensuring and auditing compliance with best practice, developing and promoting standard work, and assist the rest of the leadership team to ensure safe patient care. The Supervisor of Sterile Processing will also collaborate with other leaders in the system and/or organization to promote best practice strategies and optimize interdepartmental collaboration.\nEducation, License & Certification:\nHigh School education or GED required. \nCentral sterile processing certification preferred. Must obtain certification within 18 months of hire to maintain employment.\nEssential Functions:\nIs a leader and supervisor for Standard Work in all areas of Sterile Processing to properly handle instruments/equipment and provide safe patient care. Understands and references manufacturer's instructions for use, as well as professional standards. Demonstrates ability to prioritize and facilitate a continuous workflow of instruments/equipment through the department.\nMaintains competency and functions as a Sterile Processing Technician according to operational needs of the department.\nResponsible for reporting and updating Sterile Processing Manager Software.\nCommunicate and work collaboratively with other staff and leadership in the department, as well as staff and leaders from other units and entities. Represents the department and hospital in a professional, courteous manner.\nResponsible for hiring and evaluating of personnel in collaboration with SPD Manager, and SPD Educator. \nAddresses behaviors requiring corrective action in collaboration with Manager, Director, and Human Resources \nRecognizes positive performance of staff and promotes professional and collaborative work environment.\nSupport a work environment that actively achieves/maintains a high-functioning and engaged team. Demonstrate understanding and ability to escalate concerns as necessary.\nAttend and lead departmental in-services, huddles, and meetings. Understand key quality measures and actively develop and participate in problem solving and performance improvement activities. Utilize lean management principles and actively work on the performance board.\nAct as a clinical resource for staff and acts as coach and mentor for staff to promote utilization of standard work and best practice.\nParticipates in the orientation, education, and yearly competency process. \nDemonstrates effective leadership, fiscal responsibility, time management, flexibility, prioritization, and critical thinking skills in performance of duties.\nDemonstrates knowledge and maintains competency of standard work / key work processes.\nApplies principles of microbiology, disinfection, sterilization, and modes of disease transmission to promote an infection free environment.\nOversees and is a subject matter expert in the departmental electronic instrument management system.\nParticipates in establishing goals, activities to meet goals, and measurement for success in alliance with the overall organizational goals.
