We’re developing long-range VTOL aircraft, autonomy software, and the operational foundation needed to move critical payloads between hospitals, labs, and healthcare facilities on-demand faster and more reliably.\nWe’re early, small, and moving quickly. Joining now means you'll have a direct role in shaping the foundation of Haast - our culture, engineering process, testing discipline, partner relationships, and the path from prototype to a real medical logistics network.\nWe’re looking for high-agency people who want ownership, urgency, and system-level impact from day one.\nThe Role\nHaast is seeking a Senior CAD Loft Engineer to own the geometric definition and master CAD models for our aircraft.\nThis is a highly specialized CAD position focused on aircraft lofting, advanced surfacing, outer-mold-line development, and production-quality design definition. You will convert aerodynamic inputs, airfoil data, packaging requirements, and preliminary aircraft layouts into precise, continuous, manufacturable aircraft geometry.\nYou will be responsible for establishing and maintaining the master aircraft model from which structures, tooling, molds, drawings, and production parts are developed. Approximately 70-80% of this role will involve CAD modeling, surfacing, product definition, and drawing release.\nThe ideal candidate has previously lofted complete aircraft or major airframe sections and can demonstrate aircraft geometry that has been manufactured, assembled, and flown.\nResponsibilities\nOwn and maintain the authoritative master CAD model and outer mold line for Haast aircraft.\n\nDevelop complete aircraft lofts from airfoil coordinates, aerodynamic surfaces, station data, packaging envelopes, and configuration layouts.\n\nCreate production-quality surfaces for the fuselage, wings, wing-body intersections, fairings, nacelles, booms, empennage, payload doors, access panels, and propulsion integrations.\n\nEstablish aircraft coordinate systems, reference geometry, waterlines, buttock lines, fuselage stations, master sections, datums, and interface locations.\n\nBuild robust parametric models using master sketches, skeleton models, guide curves, boundary surfaces, multi-section lofts, and top-down design methods.\n\nMaintain appropriate positional, tangent, and curvature continuity across complex aircraft surfaces.\n\nEvaluate surface quality using curvature analysis, zebra analysis, deviation checks, section cuts, and other CAD inspection methods.\n\nConvert outer-mold-line surfaces into manufacturable composite structures, skins, cores, bulkheads, ribs, spars, frames, and bonded assemblies.\n\nDevelop accurate split lines, trim definitions, offsets, tooling surfaces, molds, plugs, fixtures, and assembly references.\n\nEnsure that aerodynamic surfaces remain controlled as structural, payload, propulsion, avionics, and manufacturing requirements evolve.\n\nManage external references, model dependencies, naming conventions, configurations, revisions, and released CAD data.\n\nIdentify and resolve surface gaps, discontinuities, intersections, minimum-radius problems, thickness conflicts, and non-manufacturable geometry.\n\nProduce detailed part models, assemblies, engineering drawings, interface-control drawings, GD&T, tolerance definitions, and bills of materials.\n\nWork closely with aerodynamicists, structural engineers, manufacturing partners, and the flight-test team to incorporate design changes without degrading the master geometry.\n\nSupport fabrication and assembly by investigating CAD discrepancies, tooling issues, part-fit problems, and deviations from design intent.\n\nHelp establish Haast’s standards for CAD architecture, geometric control, drawing release, and configuration management.\n\nRequired Qualifications\nAt least two years of professional experience in aircraft lofting, airframe surface design, aerospace CAD, or aircraft product definition.\n\nDemonstrated experience developing the outer mold line or master geometry for a complete aircraft or major airframe assembly.\n\nExpert proficiency in CATIA, Siemens NX, Creo, SolidWorks, or an equivalent production CAD platform.\n\nAdvanced capability in complex surfacing, multi-section lofting, guide-curve development, boundary surfaces, surface trimming, blending, and repair.\n\nStrong understanding of surface continuity, spline behavior, curvature control, and the relationship between aerodynamic intent and manufacturable geometry.\n\nExperience with aircraft coordinate systems, airfoil data, wing planforms, fuselage sections, aerodynamic intersections, and control-surface geometry.\n\nExperience building stable master-model or skeleton-model CAD architectures that support multiple engineers and downstream parts.\n\nAbility to translate conceptual aircraft geometry into production-quality models, drawings, tooling, and manufacturing data.\n\nUnderstanding of GD&T, tolerance analysis, engineering drawings, assembly interfaces, and configuration control.\n\nExperience with composite, molded, machined, or fabricated aerospace structures.\n\nPortfolio or work samples demonstrating complex aircraft lofting and surfacing work.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with fixed-wing UAV, eVTOL, general-aviation, or experimental-aircraft development.\n\nExperience lofting composite fuselages, wings, fairings, nacelles, payload doors, and aerodynamic transitions.\n\nProficiency with CATIA Generative Shape Design, Siemens NX Shape Studio, or equivalent advanced surfacing environments.\n\nExperience importing, cleaning, and controlling airfoil coordinates and aerodynamic reference geometry.\n\nFamiliarity with PDM or PLM systems, model-based definition, release workflows, and aerospace configuration-control practices.\n\nExperience developing molds, tooling surfaces, trim fixtures, assembly jigs, and composite manufacturing data.\n\nFamiliarity with CFD geometry preparation, mesh-ready surface cleanup, and exchanging geometry with aerodynamic-analysis tools.\n\nHands-on experience supporting aircraft fabrication, assembly, inspection, and flight testing.\n\nWhat Success Looks Like\nWithin your first several weeks, you will establish a clean and controlled master aircraft model, improve the quality and stability of Haast’s outer-mold-line geometry, and create a reliable CAD foundation for structural design, tooling, manufacturing, and future aircraft configurations.\nYour work will allow Haast to move from rapidly evolving prototype geometry to accurate, repeatable, production-ready aircraft definition.\nWe care more about agency, ownership, taste, and evidence that you can build than whether you match every bullet point. If you have worked on aircraft, drones, robots, vehicles, rockets, or other hard technical systems and want to help build something from the ground up, we want to hear from you.","description_format":"text","description_chars":6894,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":2,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":null,"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":[],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-14T12:16:16Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":14,"band":"cold","label":"Long shot","p_open":1,"p_active":0.483,"p_room":0.28,"age_days":43,"expected_fill_days":17,"reasons":["conf:1","win:tail","crowd:junior"],"computed_at":"2026-10-15T00:21:26Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/haastautonomous-aircraft-loft-engineer","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/haastautonomous-aircraft-loft-engineer.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-15T00:21:26Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":400,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-10-16T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":4417113},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=4417113"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Fhaastautonomous-aircraft-loft-engineer"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Fhaastautonomous-aircraft-loft-engineer"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Fhaastautonomous-aircraft-loft-engineer"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/haastautonomous-aircraft-loft-engineer\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Fhaastautonomous-aircraft-loft-engineer"}]}
