Sr. Software Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer (Backend) to design, build, and scale highly reliable backend systems powering HackerEarth's developer assessment platform. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performance services used by enterprises and developers worldwide.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and REST APIs.
• Own backend features from design to deployment and production support.
• Build high-performance, secure, and reliable distributed systems.
• Optimise applications for scalability, latency, and cost efficiency.
• Collaborate with Product, Frontend, DevOps, and Infrastructure teams.
• Participate in architecture discussions and technical decision-making.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
• Review code, mentor engineers, and promote engineering best practices.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues efficiently.

Requirements:

• 3-5 years of backend development experience in a product-based company.
• Strong proficiency in Python (preferred), Node.js, or Go.
• Strong knowledge of REST APIs and Microservices architecture.
• Solid understanding of Data Structures, Algorithms, and System Design.
• Experience with databases such as MySQL, Redis, Elasticsearch, or DynamoDB.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and scalability.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and modern development practices.
• Ability to take ownership and work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Skills:

• Kafka, RabbitMQ, or other message queues.
• Docker and Kubernetes.
• Monitoring, logging, and observability tools.
• Experience building high-scale B2B SaaS platforms.
• Multi-tenant architecture.
• Exposure to Generative AI and AI-assisted engineering workflows.
