Joining Hadean means working on technology with real-world impact, alongside a team that is driven to push the limits of what’s possible.\nThe Role:\nAs a Senior Field Engineer, you will lead complex defence customer engagements from solution design through integration, deployment and ongoing technical ownership.\nThis is a senior, hands-on role for someone who can take ownership of challenging technical deliveries, work directly with customers and coordinate across Hadean to get things done. You will also help us scale how we deliver by developing reusable architectures and approaches, strengthening customer enablement, and turning lessons from the field into meaningful input for Product and Engineering.\nAbout You\nYou are a seasoned engineer who enjoys being close to both the technology and the customer.\n\nYou are proactive and outcome-oriented, able to understand what a customer is trying to achieve and work out what needs to happen to get them there.\n\nYou communicate clearly and calmly, whether you are working with engineers or briefing military and government stakeholders.\n\nYou are collaborative by default. You bring the right people together, share knowledge and build repeatable approaches rather than relying on individual heroics.\n\nYou are comfortable operating with ambiguity and changing priorities, while bringing enough structure to keep complex work moving.\n\nYou have strong judgement and know when to solve something yourself, when to involve others, and when a recurring customer problem needs a more scalable solution.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\nLead complex customer engagements from technical discovery and solution design through integration, deployment and ongoing delivery.\n\nDesign and own solution architectures, including integration points, data flows, infrastructure requirements and security considerations.\n\nAct as a senior technical point of contact for customers, developing a strong understanding of their technical and operational requirements.\n\nLead Hadean’s technical delivery during customer deployments, military exercises and field experimentation.\n\nCoordinate delivery across Hadean and customer teams, identifying dependencies and risks and driving actions through to resolution.\n\nWork with Product and Engineering to translate field experience into actionable feedback and identify recurring requirements that should be productised.\n\nLead and contribute to technical solutioning for bids, RFPs, ITTs and other defence procurement opportunities.\n\nBuild reusable delivery assets, including reference architectures, integration patterns, deployment guides and customer training materials.\n\nMentor other Field Engineers through technical reviews, knowledge sharing and hands-on guidance.\n\nImprove Field Engineering processes, standards and ways of working as the team and customer portfolio scale.\n\nWhere required, undertake hands-on software engineering to solve customer problems and support successful delivery.\n\nSkills required:\nStrong software engineering fundamentals and hands-on experience working with complex technical systems.\n\nExperience designing, integrating and deploying software across multiple systems and environments.\n\nStrong knowledge of networking, infrastructure, systems integration, and software installation and configuration.\n\nExperience producing technical architecture and design documentation, such as HLDs, LLDs and interface specifications.\n\nExperience delivering technology directly with customers in Field Engineering, Solutions Engineering, Forward Deployed Engineering or a comparable role.\n\nAbility to take technical work from requirements and architecture through to integration and successful deployment.\n\nExperience working in defence, national security, intelligence or another complex and operationally constrained environment is highly desirable.\n\nExperience with military systems, geospatial technologies, secure or classified environments, simulation, Command & Control or distributed systems would be advantageous.\n\nJob Benefits \n\nWe make Hadean an awesome place to work with competitive benefits…\n\nHybrid working with 1 day per week in our fantastic office in Shoreditch, London\n\nPrivate Health Insurance\n\nEnhanced pension scheme\n\nEnhanced parental leave\n\n3 extra days off at Christmas (on top of our standard 25)\n\nL&D budget\n\nRegularly scheduled socials\n\nShare options\n\nA Place For Everyone\nWe believe diversity drives innovation and for that reason we strongly encourage those from all backgrounds to apply for roles at Hadean.
