The MEP Construction Field Engineer will work closely with the internal site project team, design team, general contractor, trade contractors, equipment vendors, commissioning personnel, and internal manufacturing stakeholders to ensure that the project is being executed to meet schedule deadlines and in accordance with the drawings a specifications\nThe Field Engineer will be expected to have working knowledge of industrial infrastructure to support the Superintendent in evaluating field conditions, coordinating construction activities, tracking physical progress, and driving resolution of technical and construction issues before they affect the project schedule.\nWhat You’ll Do\nSchedule & Progress Tracking\nWork directly with the Superintendent to drive execution of the construction schedule.\n\nUnderstand MEP milestones, equipment installation dates, utility availability dates, commissioning milestones, and critical-path activities.\n\nParticipate in weekly construction planning and coordination meetings.\n\nPerform weekly field walks and quantify installed construction progress.\n\nTrack measurable quantities including conduit, cable, piping, ductwork, equipment installation, terminations, testing, etc. as necessary to support production metrics tracking.\n\nValidate contractor-reported progress against actual installed work.\n\nSupport three- and six-week look-ahead planning.\n\nIdentify design, material, equipment, manpower, access, safety, or quality constraints affecting upcoming work.\n\nWork with the Superintendent and contractors to develop recovery plans when activities fall behind schedule.\n\nRFIs and Submittal Coordination/Tracking\nReview MEP RFIs for technical completeness, constructability, field applicability, and potential schedule impacts.\n\nMaintain a log of outstanding RFIs affecting upcoming field activities and drive timely resolution.\n\nReview MEP submittals such as shop drawings, coordination drawings, product data, and technical documentation.\n\nEvaluate proposed equipment against existing facility infrastructure and project requirements.\n\nVerify approved RFIs and submittals are incorporated into field installations and documented as a redline set to be converted to as-builts.\n\nCoordinate technical issues between field conditions, design requirements, existing infrastructure, and manufacturing equipment requirements.\n\nIdentify long-lead MEP equipment and material concerns that could impact construction.\n\nQuality and Safety Support\nVerify construction complies with approved drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, manufacturer requirements, and applicable codes and standards.\n\nVerify required inspections, testing, checklists, preparatory meetings, and quality documentation are completed in advance of scheduled construction.\n\nParticipate in preparatory, initial, and follow-up inspections as appropriate.\n\nIdentify deficient or nonconforming work and coordinate corrective actions.\n\nSupport equipment startup, functional testing, commissioning, punch list, and turnover activities.\n\nVerify appropriate documentation is developed for existing equipment that is inspected, tested, repaired, or returned to service.\n\nVerify required Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), permits, lockout/tagout plans, energized work planning, lift plans, confined-space documentation, and other applicable safety requirements are completed prior to work.\n\nEnsure required safety documentation and approvals are addressed sufficiently in advance so they do not become schedule constraints.\n\nWhat We’re Looking For\nBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field; significant equivalent industrial construction experience may be considered.\n\n3-5+ years of MEP construction experience with a strong preference for industrial or manufacturing facilities.\n\nDemonstrated experience with existing/brownfield industrial facilities.\n\nStrong understanding of industrial electrical and mechanical systems.\n\nAbility to read and interpret electrical one-lines, P&IDs, mechanical plans, equipment schedules, specifications, shop drawings, and control diagrams.\n\nExperience reviewing RFIs, submittals, coordination drawings, and technical documentation.\n\nExperience tracking installed construction quantities and evaluating field production.\n\nExperience coordinating multiple MEP trades within congested industrial environments.\n\nWorking knowledge of construction quality-control, inspection, testing, commissioning, and turnover processes.\n\nAbility to independently identify field problems and drive them toward resolution.\n\nWhat Will Set You Apart\n8+ years of industrial or manufacturing construction experience.\n\nExperience modernizing large existing manufacturing facilities.\n\nExperience evaluating and returning existing industrial MEP equipment to service.\n\nExperience with medium-voltage power distribution, substations, switchgear, MCCs, industrial HVAC, compressed air, process utilities, fire protection, and controls.\n\nExperience coordinating large manufacturing equipment installations and utility connections.\n\nExperience with equipment shutdowns, electrical outages, tie-ins, startup, and commissioning.\n\nExperience working with OEM equipment vendors.\n\nExperience with defense, aerospace, shipbuilding, automotive, heavy manufacturing, or similarly complex industrial facilities.\n\nFamiliarity with NEC, NFPA, OSHA, mechanical/plumbing codes, and applicable industrial construction standards.\n\nBenefits for Full-time Employees\nMedical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans for employees 401k\n\nRelocation support may be provided for certain situations, based on business need.\n\nFlexible vacation policy\n\nEquity\n\nITAR Requirements\nTo conform to U.S. Government export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen or national, lawful permanent resident, protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
