With sustainability at the heart of our business model, we aim to produce food that is good in every sense of the word: delicious, nourishing, affordable, sustainable and convenient.\nSolina is a fast-growing business, with around 50 production sites and R&D laboratories present in more than 19 countries mainly in Europe and North America.\nBy constantly rethinking culinary solutions, we make food matter for people and the planet.\nIf you're ready for a new adventure in a dynamic, expanding, passionate, international company, join us !\nSummary\nReporting directly to the Maintenance Director, the Process & Packaging Automation Technician serves as the plant's automation subject matter expert.\nYour primary responsibility is to ensure the reliable operation of our automated manufacturing and packaging systems by providing advanced troubleshooting, technical support, and automation expertise.\nThis is not primarily a project engineering role.\nSuccess in this position is measured by your ability to maximize equipment uptime, quickly resolve automation issues, support the maintenance team, and maintain the integrity of our control systems.\nYou will work closely with Maintenance, Production, Quality, Engineering, OEMs, and external service providers to keep critical manufacturing systems operating safely and efficiently.\nDuties and responsibilities\n1. Automation Troubleshooting & Reliability\nDiagnose and resolve complex automation issues affecting manufacturing and packaging equipment. \nTroubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, industrial networks, VFDs, sensors, instrumentation, and control systems. \nProvide advanced controls support to maintenance technicians and electricians. \nMinimize production downtime through effective fault diagnosis and rapid problem resolution. \nPerform root cause analysis and implement permanent corrective actions. \nMaintain automation backups, documentation, and software revisions. \n2. Process Automation\nSupport automated process equipment including:\nIngredient delivery systems \nBatch processing systems \nMixers and cookers \nPumps and automated valves \nCIP (Clean-In-Place) systems \nProcess instrumentation \nUtility control systems \nEnsure process automation systems remain reliable while maintaining product quality and food safety standards.\n3. Packaging Automation\nSupport automated packaging equipment including:\nFillers \nCappers \nLabelers \nConveyors \nCase packers \nPalletizers \nRobotic systems \nTroubleshoot production issues while maximizing line availability and equipment performance.\n4. Projects & Technical Support\nSupport the installation, commissioning, startup, and validation of new automation equipment. \nCoordinate with OEMs, system integrators, contractors, and equipment suppliers. \nParticipate in equipment upgrades and automation improvements. \nAssist with Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) when required. \nPreserve and continuously improve plant automation knowledge and documentation. \n5. Safety & Compliance\nPerform all work in accordance with Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) requirements and plant safety standards. \nSupport Lockout/Tagout procedures and safe maintenance practices. \nEnsure automation systems support food safety and quality requirements. \nParticipate in audits and compliance activities. \n6. Collaboration\nWork closely with Production, Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, and Continuous Improvement teams. \nAct as the plant's primary automation technical resource. \nSupport and mentor maintenance personnel on automation-related issues. \nCommunicate effectively with both internal stakeholders and external automation vendors. \nREQUIREMENTS\nEducation:\nDiploma or Degree in:\nAutomation Engineering Technology \nElectrical Engineering Technology \nIndustrial Electronics \nIndustrial Automation \nOr equivalent experience \nA licensed Industrial Electrician (442A or 309A) with strong automation experience will also be strongly considered.\nExperience:\nMinimum 5 years of hands-on industrial automation experience in a manufacturing environment. \nExperience troubleshooting automated manufacturing equipment in production. \nExperience supporting both process and packaging automation is strongly preferred. \nFood manufacturing experience is considered a significant asset. \nTechnical Skills:\nStrong experience with:\nRockwell Automation (ControlLogix, CompactLogix, Studio 5000) \nSiemens PLCs (TIA Portal) \nHMIs and SCADA systems (Ignition experience is an asset) \nVariable Frequency Drives (VFDs) \nIndustrial instrumentation and sensors \nIndustrial Ethernet communications (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, Profibus) \nElectrical drawings and control schematics \nExperience with robotics (Fanuc or equivalent) is considered an asset.\nExperience with automated process systems such as batching, ingredient delivery, or CIP systems is highly desirable.\nSoft Skills:\nStrong troubleshooting and analytical skills \nAbility to work independently with minimal supervision \nCalm and effective under production pressure \nExcellent communication and teamwork \nStrong organizational skills \nSafety-focused mindset \nResults-oriented with a strong sense of ownership \nWe are open to talents of all backgrounds.
