They are expected to be attentive to the guests’ beverage needs in a courteous and efficient manner. They also complete their assigned tasks while adhering to proper safety standards set forth by the hotel. \nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS\nAnticipate guests’ needs; respond promptly and acknowledge all guests, however busy and whatever time of day. Maintain positive guest relations at all times. Be familiar with all hotel services/features and local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately. Help resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction. \nMeet with the manager on duty to review assignments, anticipated business levels, changes and other information pertinent to the day’s scheduled activities.\nAssist to communicate additions or changes to the assignments as they arise throughout the shift.\nCoordinates set-up, maintenance, and breakdown of assigned bar area with designated supplies and equipment. Maintains cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas.\nMaintains complete knowledge of all wine, liquor brands, beers and non-alcoholic selections, designated glassware and garnishes for drinks, all menu items, preparation method, ingredients, sauces, preparation time, presentation and prices. Adheres to state liquor laws and regulations, particularly those prohibiting service to minors, intoxicated persons and drunk driving.\nOrganizes and prepares all incoming beverage orders according to recipes and guest preferences. Prepares and maintains an adequate stock of fresh juices, assorted fruits, simple syrups, and savories as required for drink recipes. \nHandle all wares carefully to prevent breakage and loss.\nReport any damages, maintenance problems or safety hazards to the manager on duty.\nAdhere to all Health Department, sanitation and safety regulations as required by the hotel.\nPerform all other duties as may be required or assigned.\nSUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS\nReports To: Department Manager, Assistant Manager or Captain.\nSupervises: None\nEDUCATION/EXPERIENCE\nHigh school diploma or equivalent vocational training certificate.\nOne (1) year of experience as a Bartender or similar position at a 4-star hotel or restaurant required; or any combination of education and experience which would provide the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities required in performing the essential functions of this position.\n\nLICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS\nPossesses current Liquor Commission Bartenders Card (yellow). Certification from alcohol awareness program required to serve alcoholic beverages preferred.\nCertification of previous training in liquor, wine and food service preferred.\nCertification in CPR.\nKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES\nMust be detail-oriented and have the ability to multi-task.\nAble to maintain positive guest relations at all times.\nPossesses strong written and verbal communication skills.\nPossesses good management and organizational skills.\nPossesses knowledge of federal and state health laws, regulations, and safety codes.\nAble to work effectively with various types of customers. \nPossesses strong knowledge of various drink recipes and beverage service standards.\nPHYSICAL DEMANDS\nThe physical demands and work environment characteristics described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
