The role ensures data protection, cyber resilience, and recoverability across hybrid environments spanning Azure cloud regions, manufacturing sites (Edge), and enterprise workloads.\nThe engineer will operate the Rubrik Cloud Data Management (CDM) platform, including virtual clusters, physical appliances (Edge), and Rubrik Security Cloud (RSC), ensuring consistent execution of backup, replication, recovery, and compliance requirements.\nThis role is critical to supporting business continuity, ransomware resilience, and regulatory compliance, enabling secure and rapid restoration of services across Haleon’s global estate.\nKey Responsibilities\nBackup Architecture & Engineering\nDesign and implement a scalable backup and recovery architecture using Rubrik CDM across:Azure virtual clusters.\nOn-premise Rubrik “Brik” appliances.\nEdge appliances at manufacturing sites.\nRubrik Cloud Vault (offsite third copy).\n\nDefine and enforce:Backup strategies (full, incremental, snapshot-based).\nRetention and archival policies.\nReplication and disaster recovery design (site-to-cloud/region-to-region).\n\nConfigure integration with enterprise platforms:VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF).\nVMWare (vCenter).\nWindows/Linux servers.\nSQL/Oracle/Postgres Databases.\nActive Directory.\nMicrosoft 365 and enterprise applications.\n\nContinuously assess the platform architecture and improve performance, scalability, and resilience.\nAdministration & Operations (Engineering Support)\nEngineer and ensure that the Operations teams maintain:Rubrik clusters (Azure and on-premise).\nRubrik Security Cloud (RSC) for centralized management.\nBackup agents (RBS and others where applicable).\n\nSupport Operations in executing daily operational activities:Backup scheduling and job monitoring.\nFailure analysis and re-runs.\nCapacity and storage management.\n\nEnsure system availability and performance across all Rubrik environments.\nMonitoring, Alerting & Incident Management\nConfigure and manage monitoring:\nBackup success/failure rates.Cluster health and hardware metrics.\nReplication and archival jobs.\n\nEnable proactive alerting for anomalies and failures.\nAct as escalation point for backup incidents:Troubleshoot failures and performance issues.\nSupport in performing root cause analysis.\nImplement corrective and preventive actions.\n\nData Protection & Recovery Assurance\nPerform and validate:Backup integrity checks.\nRestore testing (file-level, VM-level, application-level where applicable).\nDisaster recovery and replication failover tests.\n\nEnsure RPO/RTO targets are met for all critical workloads.\nSupport user acceptance testing (UAT) for backup and recovery processes.\nSecurity & Ransomware Resilience\nEngineer, implement and maintain:Backup immutability (e.g., Azure immutable blob/CCES where applicable).\nRole-based access control and privileged access governance.\nEncryption and secure communication configurations.\n\nSupport integration with Rubrik security capabilities such as:Anomaly Detection.\nRansomware protection and recovery workflows.\nRubrik Cloud Vault.\n\nIntegration & Infrastructure Alignment\nWork with adjacent engineering teams to integrate backup services into:Azure networking (VLANs, subnets, DNS, firewall rules).\nIdentity and access systems (CyberArk/SailPoint).\nCMDB and change management processes.\n\nValidate network connectivity and infrastructure prerequisites:Cluster communication.\nRSC connectivity.\nRCV connectivity.\nReplication paths.\n\nChange, Configuration & Compliance (Engineering Support)\nMaintain all Rubrik assets in CMDB:Clusters, nodes, and appliances.\nSoftware versions and configurations.\n\nExecute changes in line with:Change Management procedures.\nSecurity and compliance controls.\n\nSupport audits by providing:Backup evidence.\nRecovery validation reports.\nCompliance documentation.\n\nDocumentation & Knowledge Management\nDevelop and maintain:Runbooks and SOPs for backup and recovery operations.\nArchitecture diagrams and platform qualification documentation.\n\nProvide knowledge transfer and operational readiness documentation for BAU teams.\nStakeholder Collaboration\nCollaborate with:Infrastructure teams (Windows/Linux/VMware).\nCloud engineering teams (Azure).\nSecurity and risk teams (DTIS).\nApplication owners.\n\nTranslate business requirements into actionable backup strategies.\nProvide advisory support on data protection best practices.\nTechnical Scope (Haleon Environment)\nThe Backup Engineer must operate within a hybrid architecture consisting of:\nRubrik CDMAzure-based virtual clusters.\nOn-premise physical appliances.\nEdge appliances at manufacturing sites.\n\nRubrik Security Cloud (RSC)Centralized SaaS platform for management and monitoring.\n\nReplication & DRSite-to-cloud replication.\nCross-region recovery.\n\nData TypesVirtual machines.\nEnterprise applications.\nFile systems and filesets.\nDatabases.\n\nSecurityImmutable storage policies.\nAccess governance and audit controls.\n\nQualifications & Experience\nEducation\nBachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.\nExperience\nProven experience in:7 - 10 years for experience in relevant field.\nBackup and recovery engineering (minimum 5+ years preferred).\nRubrik CDM platform (mandatory).\nAzure infrastructure and cloud-based backup solutions.\n\nHands-on experience with:VM backups (VMware VCF).\nEnterprise data protection strategies.\nDisaster recovery planning and execution.\n\nTechnical Skills\nStrong expertise in:Rubrik CDM, RSC, and associated Rubrik tooling.\nBackup methodologies (snapshot, incremental, replication, archive).\nAzure networking and infrastructure.\n\nFamiliarity with:Automation (PowerShell/scripting).\nMonitoring and alerting tools.\nIdentity and access management
