It unites us, inspires us, and challenges us to be better every day, driven by our agile, performance-focused culture.\nAbout the role\nThe Principal Process Engineer develops manufacturing and the control strategy for R&D Innovation projects and provides technical leadership for process development, scale-up, pilot plant, and commercial-scale manufacturing activities. This role works closely with the Richmond-based pilot plant team, global innovation scientists and manufacturing site teams by providing technical direction across multiple projects and leading the technical transfer of products from the prototype through commercialization to deliver robust, scaleable, and commercially viable manufacturing processes..\nKey responsibilities\nOwn the end-to-end manufacturing process and control strategy for NPIs, ensuring products consistently meet defined quality, regulatory, and consumer-centric performance requirements.\nLead process development, scale-up, characterization, and technical transfer from laboratory or pilot scale through commercial manufacturing under cGMP standards.\nIndependently manage 5-8 complex, technically demanding projects simultaneously across drug products, cosmetics, dietary supplements, and medical devices.\nServe as the subject matter expert for key dosage forms and processing equipment, including equipment selection, start-up, qualification, troubleshooting, and lifecycle support.\nApply Quality by Design, DOE, risk assessment, and process capability principles to build robust, efficient, qualifiable, and validatable manufacturing processes.\nProvide technical leadership across R&D, Quality, Supply Chain, Operations, EHS, maintenance, logistics, and external partners, driving effective decisions and timely delivery.\nDeliver commercialization-ready technical documentation and execution, including development reports, control strategies, batch records, technology-transfer packages, change controls, safety assessments, training, and material/equipment readiness.\nWhy you?\nBasic Qualifications\nBachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Chemical or Biomedical Preferred), Chemistry, Biology or Pharmaceutical SciencesPreferred Degree - Masters or Doctor of Philosophy in Engineering (Chemical or Biomedical Preferred), Chemistry, Biology or Pharmaceutical Sciences\n\n10+ years’ experience in manufacturing process development (Chemical, Food, Consumer Health / FMCG or Pharmaceutical Industries)\n10+ years’ experience in cGMP requirements\nAbility to travel up to 50%\nPreferred Qualifications\nMaster’s degree in Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Business, or a related field.\nOperational Excellence, Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement experience.\nAbility to translate Category and OU strategy into prioritization and delivery\nExperience making sound decisions in regulated environments while balancing speed, compliance, quality, cost, supply resilience, and long-term technical stewardship. \nExperience in Operational Excellence (e.g. Agile, Six Sigma, Lean, etc…)\nExperience with direct or indirect leadership including mentoring or teaching other colleagues\nThis role is located onsite in Richmond, VA with up to 50% travel required.\nThe salary range for this role is $138,356 - $190,240.\nBenefits\nHaleon offers a robust Total Reward package that consists of competitive pay and a comprehensive benefits program.
