It unites us, inspires us, and challenges us to be better every day, driven by our agile, performance-focused culture.\nAbout the Role\nThe R&D Solution Architect is a hands-on architecture role within Digital & Technology (D&T), accountable for designing end-to-end solution architectures that enable Research & Development outcomes across the product innovation lifecycle.\nWorking under the QSC & R&D Domain Architect, the role translates target architecture, standards and guardrails into practical, implementable solution designs that delivery teams can build, validate and operate. The role partners closely with R&D Product Owners, scientists, engineers, data teams, security and compliance specialists to ensure solutions are secure, compliant, scalable and fit for scientific and regulated environments.\nThis role is delivery-proximate and technically hands-on, providing clear solution designs, implementation guidance and architectural governance - enabling faster innovation while maintaining appropriate control, traceability and data integrity.\nKey responsibilities\nDesign end-to-end technology solutions that meet business, scientific, security, scalability and operational requirements.\nTranslate R&D business needs into solution architectures, integration designs, data flows and target-state roadmaps.\nDefine architecture for product development, laboratory, clinical, pre-clinical and scientific data management platforms.\nEnsure alignment with enterprise architecture standards, target-state architecture and technology roadmaps.\nSupport end-to-end product lifecycle traceability across R&D, manufacturing readiness and quality processes.\nDesign secure and reliable data architectures, APIs, integrations and data models that enable effective data sharing and reuse.\nPartner with Data & AI teams to enable advanced analytics, reporting and AI-driven capabilities.\nEnsure solutions meet regulatory, validation, data integrity, privacy and auditability requirements.\nProvide architectural governance throughout delivery, including design reviews, technical guidance and implementation oversight.\nDocument architecture decisions, risks, dependencies and design trade-offs, ensuring timely escalation where required.\nEmbed security, resilience, business continuity and operational support requirements into solution designs.\nDrive standardisation through reusable architecture patterns, shared services and enterprise platforms while reducing unnecessary complexity.\nCollaborate closely with Product, Engineering, Data, Security and business stakeholders to deliver effective technology solutions.\nContribute to architecture best practices, standards and continuous improvement across the organisation.\nYour profile\nRequired\nDemonstrated experience as a Solution Architect in Digital or Technology environments. \nExperience designing solutions across R&D, scientific, product development or data-intensive domains. \nAbility to translate complex business and scientific requirements into implementable architectures. \nUnderstanding of integration patterns, APIs and data flows. \nSolution design skills (logical architecture, integration, data flows, non-functional design). \nAbility to provide pragmatic “minimum viable architecture” guidance that accelerates delivery. \nClear communication with both technical teams and scientific/business stakeholders.\nComfort operating across ambiguity, experimentation and evolving requirements.\nPreferred\nExperience in regulated or compliance-aware environments. \nExperience working with R&D platforms, lab systems or scientific data platforms. \nExperience operating within enterprise architecture standards and governance models. \nWhy Haleon?\nNone of us should ever feel like we’re standing still.
