We attract and retain the best talent by investing in our employees and empowering them to develop themselves and their careers. Experience the challenges, rewards and opportunity of working for one of the world’s largest providers of products and services to the global energy industry.\nAbout the Role\nYou will focus on building the visualization layer for next-generation geoscience applications. This role is centered on displaying, exploring, and interacting with large-scale scientific datasets within modern web applications.\nYou will work closely with front-end engineers, AI engineers, and domain experts to develop high-performance visualization capabilities that allow users to interact with millions of data points in real time. You will help design and implement rendering systems, data processing pipelines, and visualization frameworks that transform complex geoscience data into interactive visual experiences.\nYou will build software for the following domain:\nGeoscience - geology, geophysics, or petrophysics\nTechnologies used vary by team and include:\nTypeScript, JavaScript, C++, and Python\nAngular, React, and Node.js\nWebGL, WebGPU, Three.js, deck.gl, D3.js, Cesium, or similar visualization frameworks\nCloud platforms including Azure and AWS\nContainerization and orchestration tooling such as Docker and Kubernetes\nJob Duties\nDesign and implement high-performance visualization components for complex scientific and engineering datasets\nBuild rendering systems capable of displaying and interacting with millions of points, vectors, surfaces, or spatial objects\nDesign interaction models for zooming, filtering, selection, annotation, and navigation of large datasets\nOptimize visualization performance across CPU, GPU, and memory\nUse AI-assisted development tools to accelerate implementation, debugging, performance tuning, and test generation for visualization components\nEvaluate emerging AI-assisted approaches for visualization generation, interaction design, and data exploration\nCollaborate with UI engineers to integrate visualizations into application workflows\nDevelop efficient client-side data structures, indexing strategies, and pipelines\nEvaluate and integrate visualization libraries, rendering frameworks, and graphics technologies where appropriate\nApply secure coding practices and participate in code reviews\nCommunicate clearly across a distributed, cross time zone team\n Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Graphics, Visualization, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience\n5+ years of software development experience\nStrong understanding of computer graphics fundamentals, rendering pipelines, shaders, and GPU programming concepts\nExperience developing interactive 2D and 3D visualization for Scientific application or Games.\nExperience working with large datasets using Level-of-Detail (LOD), streaming, caching, and performance optimization techniques.\nStrong problem-solving and analytical skills.\nExperience profiling and optimizing rendering and application performance\nExperience displaying and interacting with very large datasets in web applications\nExperience with GPU-accelerated rendering technologies such as WebGL, WebGPU, Three.js, deck.gl, Cesium, or similar frameworks\nExperience optimizing rendering performance, memory consumption, and application responsiveness\nExperience developing interactive visualizations involving panning, zooming, selection, filtering, layering, or spatial navigation\nExperience profiling and troubleshooting performance issues in modern browsers\nExperience consuming APIs and streaming large datasets to client applications\nClear written and verbal communication, including the ability to explain technical trade-offs to teammates and stakeholders\nExperience using AI development tools in an effective and productive fashion\nPreferred\nExperience with scientific visualization, GIS, CAD, E&P, engineering, or simulation software\nExperience working with point clouds, 2D/3D geometry, meshes, raster data, or spatial data structures\nExperience with WebGPU and modern browser graphics pipelines\nExperience with cloud-native development including containers and Kubernetes\nCandidates having qualifications that exceed the minimum job requirements will receive consideration for higher level roles given (1) their experience, (2) additional job requirements, and/or (3) business needs. Depending on education, experience, and skill level, a variety of job opportunities might be available, Principal Software Development, and Technical Advisor Software Development.\nHow You Work\nThe engineer who succeeds in this role brings independent judgment to their work and applies it consistently. You own your assignments end to end, communicate clearly when something is off track, and treat code reviews as a genuine quality tool rather than a formality. You are comfortable working across time zones, adaptable when requirements shift, and focused on delivery outcomes rather than task completion. You pick up new tools and techniques on your own, evaluate them critically, and bring the ones that work to your team. You help the engineers around you improve because you understand that team quality compounds over time.\nWhy Landmark\nWe build small, high-ownership teams and invest in the quality of every person on them. You will work in a business where software is the product, the work you do matters, and the standards are high. You will own real work that ships, learn from engineers who push you, and grow into the kind of engineer the team relies on.\nWe offer competitive compensation, a strong career path, and a role where you own what you build, and your impact is visible.\nHalliburton is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
