Agency solicitations will not be considered.\nESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES\nPrograms, sets up, and operates CNC milling, lathe, or other machinery according to blueprint specifications\nUtilizes G or M code and CAM software (MasterCAM, MAZATROL, Haas Visual Programming System, etc.)\nTests accuracy of settings and programs\nFollows all safe work practices & safety rules\nFabricates metallic and nonmetallic parts, and fits and assembles machined parts into complete units\nApplies knowledge of machine shop theory and procedures, shop mathematics, machinability of materials, layout techniques, operating conventional, special-purpose, and CNC machines and machining centers\nChecks blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements\nSelects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines, such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers\nCalculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors, such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media\nStarts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machine, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required\nVerifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications, using precision measuring instruments\nSet up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data\nFits and assembles parts into complete assembly, using jigs, fixtures, surface plate, surface table, hand tools, and power tools\nVerifies dimensions and alignment of assembly, using measuring instruments, such as micrometers, height gauges, and gauge blocks\nMay install machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, and equipment, and test operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance\nMay develop specifications from general description and draw sketch of part or product to be fabricated\nMay confer with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems\nMay specialize in setting up and operating CNC machines and machining centers or set up and operate CNC machines linked to automated storage, retrieval, and moving devices\nUtilize CNC and conventional mills, lathes, grinders and other machine and hand tools to produce precision parts\nSet-up, program and operate CNC mills and lathes with live tooling\nMay fabricate machine replacement parts\nPerform general machine shop functions\nEffectively prioritizes jobs to meet deadlines and work in an efficient and timely manner\nComplete required documentation\nMaintain compliance with Quality related to medical device regulations and requirements\nMay train machinists in department\nOther duties as assigned\nQUALIFICATIONS\nHigh school diploma or equivalent\n7-10 years of machinist experience using conventional machine and hand tools\n3-5 years CNC set-up, programming, and operating experience\nMust be able to perform close tolerance machining\nAble to read and understand written instructions/specifications such as technical manuals, design specifications and mechanical drawings.\nGood interpersonal skills, mathematical aptitude and logical problem-solving skills necessary\nGood verbal and written communication\nAbility to work independently with minimal oversight
