The Quality Specialist is responsible for supporting Quality Assurance and Quality Control activities within a manufacturing environment. This role is heavily production-floor based and focuses on inspections, documentation, nonconformance processing, and compliance with the Quality Management System.\nThe Quality Specialist works closely with operations teams to ensure products meet internal, customer, and regulatory requirements. This role is ideal for a quality professional with strong attention to detail who excels in procedural execution and compliance.\nProduction Quality & Inspections\nPerform in-process, final, and random inspections of assemblies, subassemblies, and finished products on the production floor, based on drawings, specifications, and procedures.\n\nConduct visual, functional, and basic dimensional inspections using approved tools and equipment.\n\nVerify test results and inspection records for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with internal procedures.\n\nEnter inspection results, nonconformances, and quality data into ERP and Quality Management Systems.\n\nSupport batch traceability and sample inspection activities as required.\n\nNonconformance & Root Cause Analysis\nIdentify products and process nonconformances and initiate NCRs in the quality system.\n\nSupport root cause investigations by collecting data, evidence, and inspection records.\n\nTrack and verify completion of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) under guidance of Quality Engineers or Managers.\n\nCommunicate nonconformance status and containment actions to production teams.\n\nData Collection & Continuous Improvement\nCollect and report quality data (scrap, rework, defects, yields).\n\nMaintain accuracy of quality metrics and dashboards.\n\nSupport continuous improvement initiatives through data collection and execution of defined actions.\n\nQuality System & Compliance\nSupport the Quality Management System in accordance with ISO 9001 and, where applicable, ISO 13485 and ISO17025.\n\nAssist with internal audits, document preparation, and objective evidence collection.\n\nEnsure strict adherence to procedures, work instructions, and documentation requirements.\n\nPromote quality awareness, and 5S/housekeeping on the production floor.\n\nOther duties as assigned.\n\nABOUT THE CANDIDATE\nOur ideal candidate will understand the principles of Quality Engineering and Quality Assurance. They should bring experience and knowledge and possess the following:\nAssociate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering Technology, or a related field or equivalent experience.\n\n2-4 years of experience in a manufacturing quality role (Quality Inspector, Quality Technician, or Quality Associate/specialist).\n\nFluent spoken and written English and German are a requirement.\n\nBasic understanding of quality tools, inspection methods, and manufacturing processes.\n\nAbility to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and procedures.\n\nProficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and basic data analysis.\n\nExperience working in an ISO 9001 or ISO 13485 regulated environment.\n\nExposure to root cause analysis, CAPA, and continuous improvement activities.\n\nWorking knowledge of inspection methods and basic quality tools.\n\nPrior hands-on experience on a production floor in an electromechanical, optical, or industrial manufacturing environment.\n\nABOUT THE COMPANY\nOcean Optics pioneered miniature spectrometers and deliver spectral solutions to researchers, OEMs, and industrial customers, also designs and builds industrial-grade photonics systems for material inspection, chemical identification, and quality assurance.\nAt Ocean We Measure What Matters, and our Mission is to design precise photonics systems to solve customer measurement challenges to make the world safer, cleaner, and healthier. The base salary range for this position is 60,000 EUR - 65,000 EUR. This role is also eligible for a variable compensation plan, with On-Target Earnings (OTE) of 68,900 EUR when company performance goals are achieved. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as skills, experience, qualifications, and work location, in accordance with the applicable
