Reporting to the Quality Engineer, the role will provide practical and analytical support for product and process quality activities across manufacturing, suppliers and products.\nKey responsibilities\nCarry out defined product, component and goods-in inspections, measurements and functional tests.\nSupport investigations into product and component non-conformances, returned products and warranty concerns.\nGather, organise and analyse data to support root cause investigations and corrective actions.\nMaintain clear and accurate inspection, test, investigation and quality records.\nSupport containment activity where a product or component quality concern is identified.\nAssist with quality activities associated with concessions, deviations and engineering changes.\nWork collaboratively with Manufacturing, Engineering, Testing & Verification, Technical Support and Supply Chain to resolve quality issues.\nReview warranty and product-quality information to identify recurring failure modes, trends and emerging concerns.\nPrepare clear reports, metrics and visualisations that communicate product and warranty performance.\nFollowing training and demonstration of competence, perform defined ongoing product and performance verification testing.\nRecord and report verification results, recognise unexpected outcomes and escalate concerns appropriately.\nIdentify practical opportunities to improve product quality, manufacturing processes and Quality department processes.\nEssential skills and experience\nA practical, methodical and technically curious approach.\nGood attention to detail and a strong commitment to accurate record keeping.\nAbility to follow defined technical procedures and test methods.\nConfidence working with technical equipment and manufactured products.\nAbility to collect, organise and interpret numerical data.\nGood written and verbal communication skills.\nAbility to work collaboratively across different functions.\nWillingness and ability to undertake significant technical training.\nGood judgement to recognise unexpected results and escalate concerns.\nDesirable skills and experience\nPrevious experience within a manufacturing, engineering, laboratory, test, inspection or Quality environment.\nExperience using measurement, laboratory or test equipment.\nUnderstanding of basic Quality principles and problem-solving techniques.\nExperience analysing and presenting data using Excel, Power BI or other analytical and reporting tools.\nA technical qualification or relevant practical experience in engineering, instrumentation, electronics, chemistry, physics, data analytics or another applied science discipline.\nExperience of inspection planning, product testing or developing controlled test methods.\nKnowledge of gas detection, sensing technologies, instrumentation or electronic products.\nAwareness of ISO 9001 or another Quality Management System.\nPrevious gas-detection experience is not essential. Appropriate technical training will be provided.
