The role requires a combination of electrical, electronic, automation, and mechanical skills to ensure maximum equipment uptime, product quality, and operational efficiency.\nWhat you’llbe doing\nEquipment Maintenance\nPerform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on manufacturing equipment in accordance with maintenance schedules.\nDiagnose and repair faults on PCB manufacturing and assembly equipment, including:SMT (Surface Mount Technology) machines\nReflow ovens\nWave soldering systems\nSelective soldering equipment\nAOI (Automated Optical Inspection) systems\nPick-and-place machines\nPCB routing and handling equipment\nTest and inspection systems\n\nRespond promptly to equipment breakdowns and minimise production downtime.\nDevelop and maintain critical spares stock levels.\nElectrical and Electronic Support\nTroubleshoot electrical, electronic, PLC, sensor, and control system faults.\nInterpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.\nCarry out repairs on electrical panels, motors, drives, power supplies, and control circuits.\nAssist with installation and commissioning of new equipment and production lines.\nSupport continuous improvement activities through equipment modifications and upgrades.\nMechanical Maintenance\nDiagnose and repair mechanical faults including bearings, belts, chains, conveyors, lead screws, pneumatic systems, and mechanical assemblies.\nPerform equipment alignment, adjustment, lubrication, and replacement of worn components.\nMaintain pneumatic and vacuum systems used within manufacturing processes.\nSupport machine rebuilds, refurbishments, and process improvement projects.\nFabricate or modify simple mechanical parts and fixtures where required.\nContinuous Improvement\nIdentify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, performance, and efficiency.\nSupport root cause analysis of recurring equipment issues.\nParticipate in Lean Manufacturing, TPM, and continuous improvement initiatives.\nMaintain accurate maintenance records and update maintenance management systems.\nIdentify opportunities for equipment upgrades and process improvements.\nCompliance and Safety\nEnsure all work is carried out in accordance with company health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures.\nAdhere to lockout/tagout (LOTO) and safe isolation procedures.\nSupport compliance with ISO, IPC, and customer-specific standards where applicable.\nMaintain a clean and organised working environment.\nRelevant experience\nEssential\nExperience in a manufacturing maintenance environment.\nStrong fault-finding skills on electrical and electronic systems.\nGood mechanical aptitude with experience maintaining industrial machinery.\nAbility to interpret electrical and mechanical drawings.\nExperience working with pneumatic systems and automated equipment.\nDesirable\nExperience within PCB, electronics, SMT, or high-tech manufacturing.\nKnowledge of PLC diagnostics and industrial networks.\nExperience with servo systems, robotics, or machine vision equipment.\nUnderstanding of Lean Manufacturing and TPM principles.\nEducation and training\nEssential\nRecognised engineering qualification (HNC, HND, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent) in Electrical, Electronic, Mechatronic, or Maintenance Engineering.\nDesirable\nIPAF or PASMA certifications.\nSafety Certification, ie IOSH.\nSkills, abilitiesand specialist knowledge\nComputer literacy and experience using maintenance management systems.\nStrong problem-solving and communication skills.\nProactive and self-motivated.\nFlexible and adaptable in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.\nStrong attention to detail.\nTeam-oriented with a commitment to safety and quality.\nAbility to work independently and prioritise workload effectively.\nBenefits\nAt Advanced, people are at the heart of our success.
