Founded in 2014 at Stanford University, Halo received significant funding in 2024, paving the way for rapid expansion, strategic customer engagement, and the launch of volume manufacturing.\n The Opportunity\nThe Senior/Staff EHS Engineer is responsible for implementing and maintaining Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) programs for HALO Industries' semiconductor manufacturing facility in Malaysia.\nThe role will support the site through construction, equipment installation, production qualification, ramp-up, and manufacturing operations, ensuring compliance with applicable Malaysian EHS regulations and company requirements.\nThe position will work closely with Facilities, Manufacturing, Process Engineering, Equipment Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, contractors, and regulatory authorities.\nRole and Responsibilities:\nRegulatory Compliance\nEnsure compliance with applicable Malaysian EHS laws, regulations, permits, and company standards.\nCoordinate with DOSH/JKKP, DOE/JAS, BOMBA, and other relevant authorities.\nSupport regulatory submissions, inspections, audits, licenses, registrations, and corrective actions.\nMaintain EHS legal registers, records, reports, and compliance documentation.\nChemical & Process Safety\nManage the site chemical management program, including chemical inventory, SDS, labeling, storage, compatibility, and handling.\nSupport CHRA / USECHH requirements and chemical exposure control.\nAssess risks associated with semiconductor chemicals, process gases, chemical delivery systems, and chemical storage.\nEnsure appropriate engineering controls, PPE, emergency equipment, and chemical spill response arrangements.\nEnvironmental Management\nImplement environmental management programs covering wastewater, scheduled waste, air emissions, sewage, stormwater, and chemical spills.\nSupport DOE requirements, environmental monitoring, inspections, audits, and submissions.\nManage scheduled waste identification, storage, labeling, inventory, disposal, and applicable eSWIS records.\nCoordinate with approved waste contractors and environmental laboratories.\nSupport the operation and compliance of the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) and Scrubber system.\nCoordinate wastewater sampling, laboratory testing, and analysis.\nWorkplace Safety & Industrial Hygiene\nConduct workplace inspections, HIRARC/risk assessments, safety audits, and industrial hygiene monitoring.\nSupport control of chemical exposure, noise, heat, dust, and other occupational hazards.\nInvestigate accidents, near misses, chemical spills, and unsafe conditions.\nPerform root cause analysis and track corrective/preventive actions.\nEquipment & Facility Safety\nParticipate in EHS reviews for new equipment, processes, and facility systems.\nReview hazards associated with high voltage, compressed/toxic gases, chemicals, pressure/vacuum systems, lasers, radiation/X-ray equipment, robotics, and automated equipment, where applicable.\nReview equipment safety documentation, emergency shutdown systems, interlocks, PPE, and safety procedures.\nPermit & Contractor Safety\nManage or support Permit-to-Work and high-risk activities including LOTO, hot work, confined space, working at height, electrical work, chemical handling, lifting, and line breaking.\nReview contractor risk assessments, method statements, permits, and competency requirements.\nConduct contractor orientation, inspections, and performance monitoring.\nEmergency Response\nDevelop and maintain emergency response procedures and conduct emergency drills.\nSupport response planning for fire, chemical spills, toxic gas release, chemical exposure, environmental incidents, and other emergencies.\nMaintain emergency response equipment, spill kits, eyewash/shower stations, PPE, and emergency signage.\nFacility Construction & Startup\nParticipate in EHS design reviews for facility and process systems.\nMonitor construction and equipment installation activities from an EHS perspective.\nSupport regulatory approvals, inspections, and EHS readiness reviews.\nEstablish EHS procedures, SOPs, emergency plans, inspection programs, and training before production startup.\nSupport production qualification and manufacturing ramp-up.\nRequirements\nQualifications\nBachelor's degree in engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Safety & Health, or related field.\nMinimum of 5 years relevant EHS experience in manufacturing, with preferred exposure to semiconductor or high-tech environments.
