As a progressive and vibrant healthcare organization, we are committed to being an innovative center of excellence in community hospital care.\n Responsibilities include but are not limited to:\nTechnical oversight of laboratory in the designated area and assists in providing general oversight of the Core Lab, Microbiology and specimen receiving area including operating analyzers as required\nAssists in planning, organizing and coordinating workflow and processes to ensure alignment with best practices\nEnsures daily work is completed according to established departmental policies and procedures\nMonitors work, prioritizing workload and respond effectively to changing demands\nAssists Lab Manager and Lab Quality Manager in the development, implementation and ongoing review of the discipline specific Quality Management System ensuring compliance with IQMH accreditation requirements.\nParticipates in the development of quality indicators, monitoring trends and takes appropriate actions based on indicator performance\nParticipates in quality and safety audits and assists in instituting corrective actions where required and monitors effectiveness\nDocuments incidents, takes appropriate actions, follows up with staff and submits incident reports to the Laboratory Manager\nEstablishes, maintains and monitors quality assurance and quality control for designated areas, participates in troubleshooting, investigates discordant external quality assurance results, resolves issues, implements corrective actions and monitors their effectiveness\nOversees and orders inventory levels to ensure adequate stock and supplies.\nDevelops, reviews and updates technical manuals in the document control system\nEnsures all equipment in designated areas is properly maintained\nOversees and initiates evaluation of new technology, methods and procedures and provides guidance in implementation\nCollaborate with other charge technologists in the development and implementation of new policies and procedures\nIdentifies opportunities for process improvement, minimizes waste and improves efficiencies\nTrains and teaches technical staff in designated areas\nOversees student teaching program in the Department\nAssists in conducting regular staff meetings to share information, discuss issues and promote team building\nAssists in ensuring hospital and departmental policies and procedures are adhered to and assists in the development and review of Policies and Procedures with recommendations for changes and improvements as required\nMaintains and enforces established safety regulations and participates in the development of enhanced safety procedures as required\nProvides investigation, development, recommendation, implementation and training associated with new methods and new technology\nProvides strong technical support, consultation, and interpretation in all aspects of Preanalytical, Specimen Procurement and referred out\nPerforms bench work as required.\nRepresents the department, and when appropriate, the organization on various internal and external committees\nAdminister scheduling and payroll for designated area\nMaintain referred-out testing and receiving area\nFacilitate specimen collection procedures and provide support for Lab Assistant duties as needed\nMaintains current knowledge of professional standards, legislation and requirements\nSupport management in the development of operational and corporate budgets and provide statistics and analyses related to department as required\nRecommend and assist in the planning of educational opportunities and the use of educational resources within the laboratory service across all three hospitals\nOther duties as assigned by Manager\n Halton Healthcare endeavors to hire individuals who are competent in their chosen profession and who exemplify our mission, vision and values of accountability, respect and compassion which guide our individual behaviours and attitudes.\nCurrent Medical laboratory technologist registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario required\nRecent clinical experience of 6 years as a Medical Laboratory Technologist\nRecent experience with scheduling required\nExperience with laboratory automation and LIS system\nPrevious supervisory experience required\nMust be capable of functioning well in a high-stress environment\nDemonstrated excellence in laboratory Quality Control theory, practice and troubleshooting.\nDemonstrated knowledge of IQMH Quality Systems and Quality Assurance procedures\nDemonstrated organizational skills and ability to prioritize work, adapt to changing priorities and to meet deadlines.\nDemonstrated excellence in interpersonal and customer service skills, within and external to the laboratory setting\nTeaching/training experience an asset\nMust be able to work independently or in a team setting;
