This person will be in close communication with maintenance, production operators, and management on a regular basis.\nWork schedule; Monday-Thursday (hours and days may vary dependent upon the needs of the facility).\nWage $26.79 - $32.56 per hour ($55,723 - $67,724 annually, before shift differential, overtime and production bonus). The position works closely with production employees, maintenance, and supervision to identify and resolve safety, mechanical, quality, and process concerns.\nAssigned machine centers may include gang saw, edger, trimmer, stacker, and other sawmill equipment. Employees must follow all company safety and work standards and may rotate to other jobs as operational needs require.\n\nJob Function\nPractice safe work habits and comply with all company safety and work standards\nOperate assigned sawmill machine centers safely and efficiently\nMaintain production flow, product quality, and equipment awareness.\nMaintain clean, orderly work areas and support break rotation as qualified\nCommunicate effectively and work cooperatively with production, maintenance, and supervision\n\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\nFollow all safety, guarding, and lockout/tagout requirements\nOperate assigned machinery, controls, and production positions safely\nMonitor lumber flow, quality, and equipment; report and respond to problems promptly\nClear jams or upset conditions only after equipment is properly secured\nComplete inspections, lubrication, housekeeping, and routine preventive maintenance\nAssist maintenance during planned work and breakdowns\nComplete required training and assist with employee training as assigned\nMonitor product quality, dimensions, and machine performance; promptly communicate mechanical, quality, size, safety, or production concerns\nChange saws, guides, and related machine components as trained and authorized.\nUse hand tools and other assigned tools safely and correctly\nAssist with employee training and provide break rotation or coverage on other qualified jobs\nMaintain a clean, orderly work area and support safe housekeeping throughout the sawmill\nWork scheduled overtime and complete end-of-shift cleanup as needed\nQualifications\nExperience or training required:\nFall Protection Certification\nCrane Operation Certification\nChainsaw (may not be required)\nBasic Knowledge of Lumber Grades \nPreferred Experience\nExperience operating Trimmer, Sorter, Stacker\nMechanical aptitude and basic troubleshooting skills\nExperience in a high-production environment\nSawmill, Planer Mill, or Manufacturing experience \nSkills & Abilities\nStrong attention to detail and decision-making skills\nAbility to adjust equipment based on lumber characteristics\nStrong communication and situational awareness\nGood time management and organizational skills\nAbility to multitask in a fast-paced environment\nMaintain regular and reliable attendance and report to work as scheduled\nAbility to work scheduled overtime, weekends, or alternate shifts when required by operational needs\nPhysical Requirements\nAbility to work in a loud, dusty, industrial environment\nAbility to work indoors in heat and cool temperatures\nAbility to safely enter and exit equipment multiple times during shift\nProlonged standing and walking\nFrequent walking on uneven surfaces\nFrequent bending, reaching, and climbing\nAbility to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally\nMore About Us\nDarrington is a small town nestled in the foothills of the beautiful Cascade Mountains with easy access to national parks, hiking, skiing, fishing, and hunting.
