We always look to the future and invest in our people, new technologies, and continuous improvement processes and techniques.\nOverview\nWe are currently seeking a Planer Supervisor Swing Shift to join our Warrenton Planer Team. This is a hands-on leadership role. This person will be safety orientated, people focused, and goal driven. They also must be approachable and trustworthy. They are responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the swing shift team. Responsibilities include but are not limited to safety, quality, continuous improvement, training, teamwork, and retention of the team. They will work closely as part of the leadership team to promote our common goal to be the Employer of Choice in our community.\nSchedule: Monday through Thursday. Will set the example for crew members with regard to safety, will be an advocate for safety, and promote safe work behaviors. \nSet and maintain all safety standards for Sawmill personnel. \nHousekeeping will involve maintaining a clean and orderly work environment in all locations. This includes buildings, grounds, lunchrooms, bathrooms, and rolling stock. \nWill provide relevant and effective safety training for Sawmill personnel. \nQuality\nResponsible for the quality of products produced by the sawmill swing shift.\nThis person must perform visual lumber quality checks. Spot checks will also be required whenever a fellow operator identifies a potential quality problem. \nThis person will ensure the maximum value of the raw material is being extracted through using WoodSmart data. \nWill be goal oriented with the quality assurance function and all personnel that assists with that function. Will execute established standards for quality checks, at all stages of production and compare actual results against them.\nProduction\nWill supervise and coordinate activities of personnel engaged in the production of logs to rough lumber.\nEstablish standards for each machine center and compare actual results. \nWorks in coordination and cooperation with other departments. \nImplements measures to improve production methods\nKnowledge of maintenance requirements for a sawmill operation \nInvolve Human Resource Office in changes affecting personnel \nTrain and motivate employees\nMaintain time sheets \nQualifications\nPersonal\nWill be a leader…..build a community of purpose with the passion for excellence to match the Hampton Vision. \nWill demonstrate the highest level of integrity. Will be inquisitive and take the initiative to always “Find a Better Way”. \nSkills, Education and Training Required\nExperience in supervisory or lead responsibilities and/or can demonstrate professional and technical expertise. \nCorrectly interpret company policies and procedures, in particular safety policies/procedures.\nAbility to quickly learn and apply the latest technologies.\nMust have the ability to learn the Sawmill manufacturing process, including the operation and troubleshooting of sawmill equipment. \nMust maintain a current First Aid/CPR certification.\nAbility to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects to meet production schedule.\nAbility to resolve problems and follow through with all concerned parties.\nAnalyze and resolve work problems and/or assist all teammates in solving work problems.\nAdditional Preferences:\nFamiliarity with dimension sawmill and Sawmill operations.\nKnowledge of optimization systems for a Sawmill.\nKnowledge of quality control concepts and procedures in a modern sawmilling environment.\nProficient typing skills and familiarity with Microsoft Word & Microsoft Excel.\nMore About Us\nHampton took over management of the Warrenton plant in 2010, however, this site has had a sawmill on it since 1921.
