We offer unmatched benefits and competitive wages in a stimulating and rewarding environment.\n.\nSalary Range: $74,920 - $97,396\nEssential Job Functions:\n(Duties listed are not intended to be all inclusive nor to limit duties that might reasonably be assigned.)\nField all calls for computer assistance by HRT employees.\nInstall, maintain, upgrade hardware and software of HRT computerized systems.\nReport all calls for computer assistance in electronic tracking software.\nProvide ad hoc user training as required to help customers effectively utilize HRT computerized systems.\nPerform routine LAN administrative duties as required.\nCompile, write, maintain written documentation of all HRT computer configurations, and ensure adherence to HRT minimum hardware/software requirements.\nMaintain awareness of advances in information technology and recommend modifications to HRT systems as required.\nCoordinates selection and purchase of data processing hardware and software for HRT.\nExplore and possibly implement new technologies to automate tasks related to client workstations and/or servers.\nImplement backup routine for all HRT networked computer systems.\nProvide development and/or maintenance of specialized HRT software programs.\nImplement virus protection strategy at HRT.\nImplement and manage server-based applications used to update workstations and servers, control and monitor Internet traffic and other network management applications.\nMonitor various system logs for problems or unusual behavior.\nUpdate and maintain server operating systems. \nManage records created and received in compliance with the Hampton Roads Transit Records Management Policies and Procedures.\nPerforms other duties as required by the Sr. Director of Technology Services.\nRequired Knowledge, Abilities and Skills essential to Job Functions:\nIn depth knowledge of Microsoft server operating systems, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and server hardware is essential. In depth knowledge of backup exec or other backup application. Experience working with VMware 5.0. Experience with Microsoft Remote Desktop Services. Ability to install, configure and troubleshoot server operating systems, software, and related hardware is required. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to quickly identify problems and implement solutions with minimal downtime. Critical thinking - Using logic and analysis to identify the strengths and weaknesses of different approaches.\nRequired Software Knowledge and Skills essential to job functions: Proficiency in using computer systems and the listed software applications associated with performance of assigned work is essential. Basic problem-solving skills associated with software applications used is expected. Software usage relevant to job duties will be evaluated.\nSoftware applications: Familiarity with MS Office Suite required.\nSafety Responsibility:\nPerform all job duties and responsibilities in a safe manner to protect oneself, fellow employees, and the public from injury or harm. Promote safety awareness and follow safety procedures and policies. Take an active part in reporting unsafe conditions and any hazards within the workplace to their Supervisor, Manager and/or the Safety Department.\nTraining and/or Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Systems or a related field.\nRequired Experience:\nThree years of experience supporting Windows in network environment. Experience with networking protocols, particularly TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and WINS. Knowledge of server hardware and troubleshooting skills are essential. Knowledge of data storage systems and virtualization is desirable.\nLicenses or Certificates:\nPossess a valid Driver's License. Acquire a Virginia Driver's License within 60 days after the date of hire (in instances when an out of state license is not the applicant's current state of residence).\nMCSE 2003/2008 (or newer)\nSpecial Requirements: This position is classified as essential personnel.\nFLSA Status:\nExempt\nPhysical Demands:\nWork requires high-speed operation of keyboard devices.
