It currently conducts field operations across seven regions: Kilimanjaro, Arusha, Manyara, Singida, Dodoma, Simiyu and Iringa.\n\nHIHEA TZ works with marginalised communities in economic and social empowerment through a participatory approach aimed at helping people overcome poverty and vulnerability.\n\nIts enterprise and job creation approach is based on self-help, providing training, skills and support to enable people living in poverty, particularly women, to establish and sustain independent, market-based economic activities. This contributes to improved household incomes, food security, children’s education, healthcare access, housing and overall livelihoods.\n\nJob Summary\n\nThe Driver will be responsible for operating the assigned Hand in Hand Eastern Africa – Tanzania vehicle and ensuring it remains clean, safe, tidy and in good working condition.\n\nThe successful candidate will provide reliable and efficient transportation services to staff, visitors and organisational materials while complying with traffic regulations, organisational policies and safety standards.\n\nThe role also involves supporting routine vehicle maintenance, monitoring service schedules, maintaining accurate transport records and reporting mechanical problems promptly to ensure smooth organisational operations.\n\nDuties and Responsibilities\n\nThe Driver will perform the following duties:\n\nDrive the assigned vehicle for all official duties professionally, ensuring the safety and timely transportation of staff, authorised passengers and goods while observing road and traffic laws and regulations.\n\nKeep the assigned vehicle clean, tidy, adequately fuelled, properly serviced and maintained.\n\nEnsure the vehicle has all prescribed working tools and equipment before embarking on any trip.\n\nMaintain accurate vehicle logbooks for every trip, ensuring they are fully completed and signed. Records should include trip descriptions, daily mileage, fuel consumption, oil changes, greasing and repairs.\n\nPrepare monthly reports on vehicle activities using the prescribed format.\n\nEnsure all vehicle legal documents, including insurance policies and inspection certificates, are current and valid. Maintain a valid driving licence.\n\nConduct regular daily maintenance checks, including pre-trip and post-trip inspections of oil, water, battery, brakes, tyres and other essential components. Carry out preventive maintenance activities such as engine tune-ups, oil changes, tyre rotation and replacement, wheel balancing and filter replacement.\n\nReport any detected mechanical faults or defects to the supervisor promptly.\n\nObserve safety rules for staff and other authorised vehicle users. Ensure the availability of first aid kits and fire extinguishers and the proper use of seat belts.\n\nTransport only authorised goods and passengers and ensure passengers are aware of the rules, regulations and guidelines governing the use of organisational vehicles.\n\nEnsure non-staff passengers sign the vehicle travel indemnity form before the commencement of travel.\n\nReport all incidents, accidents, injuries and damage involving vehicles or occupants promptly in accordance with established procedures.\n\nMaintain an updated emergency contact list in the vehicle.\n\nEnsure the vehicle remains secure at all times and avoid interfering with installed security devices.\n\nPerform official errands, undertake deliveries and carry out other messenger duties.\n\nPerform any other duties assigned by the supervisor from time to time.\n\nKnowledge, Skills and Abilities\n\nThe required knowledge, skills and abilities may be acquired through a combination of formal education, self-education, previous experience or on-the-job training.\n\nA. Education and Academic Qualifications\n\nCertificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE).\n\nB. Specialised Training and Professional Qualifications\n\nMust possess a clean and valid driving licence, Class ABCE.\n\nMust possess a Government Trade Test III Certificate in Mechanics.\n\nAn AA Driving Certification of Competency will be an added advantage.\n\nC. Required Competencies and Skills\nApplicants must demonstrate the following competencies:\n\nMust possess a certificate of good conduct.\n\nAbility to work and relate well with people from diverse backgrounds and handle people firmly but respectfully.\n\nGood organisational skills and ability to coordinate tasks effectively and follow instructions.\n\nAbility to communicate effectively in both English and Kiswahili.\n\nSufficient knowledge of national road transport rules and regulations.\n\nAbility to read and interpret road signs written in English.\n\nHigh level of integrity and trustworthiness.\n\nGood knowledge of the geographical regions, territories, environment and terrain, as well as an understanding of the sociocultural factors in areas where Hand in Hand Eastern Africa activities are implemented.\n\nD.
