We expect all employees to be intellectually curious, ambitious, and interested in assuming increasing levels of responsibility.\nHigh-Impact Higher Education Research\nProjects: Primarily dashboards to help clients better understand the costs, revenues, and margins of their academic programs, departments, and schools; other data analytics projects as needed, such as student success and retention analyses, determinants of progression through the enrollment funnel, financial aid optimization, non-matriculant analyses, donor analyses, and other projects. \nClients: Hanover works with a wide range of higher education institutions in the United States and internationally, from small community colleges to large university systems and every institution type in between.\nResponsibilities\nEfficiently process and clean datasets for analysis\nCreate dashboards in Power BI\nPerform statistical modeling and regression analysis on education-related data\nForm hypotheses and locate compelling support for arguments under tight deadlines\nWrite up findings and key takeaways in a clear and concise manner\nProvide project managers with regular updates on project progress and proactively raise potential challenges and questions\nQualifications\nHigher Education Data Fluency: Demonstrated experience working with common academic and institutional data sets, such as course section, faculty workload, student enrollment, compensation, and/or staffing data. Candidates should understand how these data are generated and used in academic operations.\nAnalytical Judgment and Data Troubleshooting: Ability to evaluate whether analytical outputs make sense in a higher education context, investigate unexpected patterns or anomalies, and recommend reasonable methodological adjustments.\nEssential Skills and Attributes\nExperience working with and preparing real-world higher education datasets for analysis, including identifying and reshaping or merging data\nExperience with data visualization software, including Power BI\nIntermediate-level user of statistical analysis software, particularly Stata and R\nOther Important Skills and Attributes\nKnowledge of and ability to apply econometric and statistical methods to practical research problems\nWillingness and ability to learn new quantitative skills as necessary and apply them in new contexts\nDemonstrable problem-solving skills\nWillingness to tackle complex, often unfamiliar research requests\nAbility to collaborate and strategize with senior-level research directors\nExcellent organizational skills and attention to detail\nExcellent interpersonal and communication skills\nAbility to prioritize and manage multiple short and long-term projects to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment\nDemonstrable, strong work ethic\nAbility to accept feedback and constructive critique positively\nStrong command of the English language and demonstrated writing and editing skills, including experience writing or presenting for a business or non-technical professional audience\nHigh comfort level with Microsoft Office applications, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint\nExperience with other programming languages such as Python, with database systems and SQL, or with spatial mapping and analysis tools such as ArcGIS is a plus.\nEducation Requirement\nA master’s or doctoral degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Data Analytics, a Social Science or Higher Education with quantitative training, or a related quantitative discipline is preferred, though promising candidates with a bachelor’s degree in one of these disciplines with higher education industry experience may be considered.\nExperience Requirement\nMinimum of 2-5 years of full-time work experience (or equivalent academic work) conducting quantitative research and analysis in a higher education setting is preferred.\nLocation\nUSA Remote\nOffice is located in Arlington, VA \n#Remote #LI-Remote\nCompensation\nHanover Research strives to create compensation that is competitive, equitable and fair.
