Work at this level requires extensive progressive experience in civil/structural engineering and involves utilization of project controls for cost control, scheduling and quality of projects. This work will be performed under minimal supervision in the Beaumont office.\nPrimary responsibilities will include but not be limited to:\nReview and approval of all civil/structural deliverables.\nValidation of professional services and construction estimates at the onset of projects and tracking changes as the project progresses.\nAccomplishing engineering activities such as stress analysis, construction specifications, material procurement specifications, calculations and estimates.\nProducing professional service estimates in accordance with the department standards for project deliverables, project studies and estimates, change notices and for the development of new work through proposal efforts.\nDeveloping conceptual layouts and cost studies as necessary to determine the simplest, most efficient approach to solving engineering tasks at hand.\nEstablishing the design criteria, incorporating client requirements, estimate and/or scope basis and design basis meeting applicable state, local and federal standards and codes. Ensuring that any requirements for permitting have been established and communicated to the project team.\nWorking knowledge of scope and deliverables. Initiating timely change notices when deviation is made from your scope, affecting schedule, deliverables or cost of the work.\nPlanning and organizing the work of your team. Communicating the plan to your team, the project leadership team and the client.\nMaintaining control of the project by tracking and maintaining discipline performance budget progress, schedule commitments, and quality standards. Understanding and utilizing project tools which are in place for project control.\nDelegating work to engineers in proportion to their technical skills and experience, then following up for support to ensure efficient progress and quality.\nConsulting with design leaders from other disciplines in proportion to their technical skills and experience, then following up for support to ensure efficient progress and quality.\nProducing detail design calculations and sketches for materials of construction associated with the project. Calculations produced will be neatly prepared and organized for efficient checking by others and efficient use by drafters/designers for preparing drawings and as a deliverable when required.\nProducing project designs with efficient use of construction materials with an overall emphasis on ease of construction and completed product meeting the expectations of the client.\nChecking calculations made by other engineers to ensure accuracy, conformance to codes, specifications, design criteria and conformance to good engineering practice.\nProducing construction specifications.\nMonitoring drawings in progress to ensure conformance to design calculations and specifications.\nAssisting the drafting group in resolving routine layout and detailing problems. Ensuring that sufficient sketches and details are provided for completion of engineering drawings.\nProducing bid packages enabling civil/structural purchase inquiries to be issued for procurement of materials or subcontract pricing.\nComplete understanding of the skills and experience required to perform engineering and design functions.\nParticipating in the planning of training programs, continuous education opportunities and professional development of staff.\nIdeal Background\nEducation: Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university is required. Structural coursework is required for structural positions.\nRegistration: Professional Engineering registration is highly preferred.\nExperience: Requires 10 or more years of relevant industrial experience in civil/structural engineering and management.\nRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities\nKnowledge of design standards and codes.\nKnowledge, application and specification of civil/structural materials.\nDevelopment of material procurement specifications.\nKnowledge of good design practices for sizing all civil/structural systems.\nKnowledge of other disciplines deliverable development to ensure coordination of design efforts.\nKnowledge and understanding of schedule constraints and information requirements for the production of all civil/structural deliverables.\nAbility to accurately estimate completion of assigned tasks.\nAble to develop a construction cost estimate, a detailed engineering schedule and a man-hour budget for a small project or an area for a larger project.\nAbility to determine construction material quantities.\nDevelop design criteria and scope of work.\nAbility to create accurate civil/structural installation documents from the information found on vendor equipment drawings.\nAbility to develop civil/structural installation specifications.\nExperienced in estimating and scheduling professional service hours and assessing the progress and quality of civil/structural work.\nComplete understanding of the skills and experience required to perform engineering and design functions.\nKnowledge and application of company engineering design and CAD drafting standards.\nAbility to lead a project teams to deliver on commitments.\nProficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.\nExcellent communication skills, both verbal and written.\nExcellent presentation and virtual team skills.\nLeadership in the Community of Practice.\nPhysical Requirements\nAbility to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time.\n#LI-BT2 nederland\nHargrove Culture\nWe work to create an environment founded on trust, personal integrity, and a “team mentality” so that each person understands the value of their contributions both on a project and company-wide level.
